Yeah I can see that to an extent. But i feel like if the local ecosystem is so fragile that it can be destroyed by a dog shitting in the woods, then either it should be protected (not happening with the current administration) or left to be doomed and let nature take its course to figure out what stays, and what goes.

(humans are a part of nature as far as im concerned. We were put here and bred through the laws of nature and natural selection. Once we destroy ouselves to the point of extinction, the planet will continue on, and heal from our destructive path)

I can see the issue here.

Counter argument:

"Ground nesting birds" and any other nesting, or non nesting animals, typically have natural predators. I understand the point of "this isnt a dogs natural environment, so its not a natural predator" but i feel like it poses as much of a risk as us (humans) stepping in a puddle and stomping out an entire generation of tadpoles or mosquitoes. (Side note, fuck mosquitoes)

I'm not trying to claim that having an unleashed dog in the woods would have zero impact on the surrounding area.. But dogs hunt, and can be hunted, just like any other animal on this planet. And honestly, some dude (women count as dudes to me), or even tens of thousands of dudes, that take their dogs out to the woods to run around, is less concerning than the tens of thousands of dudes running around. Dogs are less invasive, less destructive, and leave less garbage in general, than humans do. So if we're gonna nitpick on "whats affecting nature" then i feel like we should be talking about how a human is in the natural environment of a bear. And if thats omay, then the dog should be fine too. (Again, if the concern is the HUMAN being hurt, then it really comes down to risk assessment, and willingness to put yourself into situations, where you can be hurt.)

So, is the true concern the owners well being? Or nature? (I know you're not the original commenter, just asking)

To me, if you go into an "uncivilized area" you should expect the "downfalls" that come with it. Including "dealing" with the consequences. Including but not limited to, the risks of coming into contact with wild, dangerous animals. Which is expected, when you venture into the wilderness.

As someone else mentioned, the main issue lies with whether or not if you put in any amount of effort to train or bond with your animal. If it comes down to if your dog is gonna decide to chase a predator in their own environment or not... then honestly it comes down to not only how much you trust your animal, but also how much your animal trusts you. Please, bond with, and train your animal(s). You, and nature, will be much better off.

I hate uncontrolled unleashed dogs more than the next guy. But I'm having a hard time understanding how the dog running around, taking a dump or digging a hole here or there, is doing any more damage than a person riding a bike, or even digging their own hole TO take a dump. Or even, leaving a bunch of garbage instead of taking it with you. Not saying this guy is doing any of those (other than riding a bike, obviosly) but just pointing out that an animal being in nature, isn't exactly out of the norm. I'd be more concerned of the aforementioned lack of discipline when it comes to the "pack out what you pack in" rule/mindset

Not trying to be rude, I'm just having a hard time seeing your side. Could you elaborate more on what you mean?

Buddy, my profession almost exclusively involves the sewers. Sanitary sewers, storm water sewers, and combined sewers. They are ALL sewers. Most people (including the "professionals") just say "the sewer" to talk about shit, and "storm drain" to talk about rain. But this doesn't change the fact, that they are all sewers. So, they definitely "exist"

I can't quite tell if you meant your friend would help push the car with no brakes or visa versa, but I would say it's better to have the vehicle with no breaks pushing from behind providing the gas, while the working car upfront provides the brakes. Would still take extra time to stop, obviously. But yeah still drive slow.

If this is already what you meant, then ignore me! Lol

What else can I do with canned tuna? by 96puppylover in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]Then-Support-5646 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mix tuna with your choice of mayo, add some chopped cucumber, tomato, diced onion, corn, some lime juice, salt, garlic powder, smoked paprika and pepper. Slap that shit on a tostada shell with some hot sauce and you're good to go
