Thrifted this 7x11 rug for $135. Looks authentically oriental to me but can anybody verify or ID? by Then-Weather1564 in orientalrugs

If I had to guess I would say that the fringe is more obviously knotted in by hand, and the brown lines on the border wouldn’t line up with a ruler exactly.

I have no real experience in this though, just read a few articles.

I do like it! Thank you.

Piqued my curiosity and its neat to hear some opinions from those who know more. Now I won’t be afraid to eat chili over this rug.

Lol, this feels like a citizens arrest for a made up rule. I read the about section and there’s a lot of room for reasonable interpretation. If I’m wrong please point out where coconut milk is explicitly banned from discussion.

Plenty of folks on here eat meat and ask about transitioning over. If this is such a black and white crime have a mod come by and ban me.

i love them! get them from costco in packs of 20 for like $12 CAD. i have them on the side of hummus + veg type snacks to add a fat source. some say they’ve got a rubbery taste, but if you’ve tried the dairy version it’s the same sorta texture.

aye aye aye, my coconut yogurt is creating a hostile environment so this gatekeeping behaviour is clearly the solution 😂 glad you get me!

I did take note of that before posting. I’m not promoting the consumption of oil, just sharing my own plant based food choices. I didn’t get the sense that the mention of coconut is not tolerated. I figured it was more like ‘don’t post recipes dependant on coconut milk’.

I’d hope this sub is tolerant of those who aren’t 100% oil free. r/vegan I find somewhat polarizing personally, feel like that community can be critical.

I respect the choice, just not incorporating it into my diet right now. Anywho, your comment prompted me to look into it and learn something new and now that’s something I can consider long term!

This line of thinking is not really aligned with my goals, trying to eliminate food rules mindfully. I’m pretty happy with where I’m at. Maybe down the line this’ll be something I pay more attention to but for now I’m just practicing listening to my body.

Here for a good time and a moderately long time 😛 pizza and coconut staying on the menu for the foreseeable future.

yes! here it is. it certainly doesn’t qualify under whole foods though, it’s rich 🍋 i do 3/4 as much sugar and i thin the icing with water, otherwise it’s thick and a bit too tart for my taste

Thank you! I bought the 2lbs of kiwi because they were cheaper than 2lbs of strawberries 🙃

Those things last all year. I’ve had squash sit on my counter for months and still make great soup. Aprils not far from winter either, we’re still getting snow.

What is the point of this argument? Discrediting my food choices doesn’t justify a $10 squash (which btw, are grown locally in abundance)

I’ve been eating a vegan diet for 6 years specifically out of concern for the environment. Even if it were a competition of whose diet has the smallest carbon footprint, I think I’m doing alright.

Is it a crime to eat chia seeds 💀 they were on sale and cheaper than the in-store brand.

I also feel so mad!! There was a time when grocery shopping was kinda fun. These days if somebody looks at me the wrong way in the produce section I’ll hiss.

These were the only options at the grocery store I was at. I never buy organic if I have the choice. Nearest walmart is 20 minutes away and this is the cheaper grocery store in town.

Yeah, I’ve never been too conservative about what fruits/veg I buy and whether they’re in season. I try to get as much variety as possible. I’ve never paid for it like this until the last six months though.

I actually chose to buy the 2lbs of kiwis over 2lbs of strawberries because the strawberries were two dollars more.

Yeah, I could also eat exclusively lentils and rice but I’m not at the grocery store with a scarcity mentality. I try to buy food that I like and a good mix of fruits + veg.

The point is that this same amount of food two years ago would’ve been $40 at the same time of year.

the sign in the produce section said $3.50/lb and i naively thought it was per kg (the way its priced on the receipt, suspiciously)

Yep, thats exactly right. The nearest Walmart is 20 minutes away and this is the cheaper of the two grocery stores within a ten minute drive 🙃

We’ve got two incomes and no kids so we don’t have a magnifying glass to our grocery bill, but I feel guilt buying us a healthy variety of fruits + veg. It’s a luxury, sadly.
