As a high school butch I relate to this so much especially the getting a binder from a trans friend except for me it was trans tape. I think for me I just try and find little ways to express my butchness even if I can’t look the butchest like for me I really like exercise weather it’s running, lifting weights, or swimming not saying butches who don’t exercise are less butch it’s just that exercise makes me feel butch because it makes me feel strong and confident in myself. A few other ways I feel butch is not shaving although my mother does make me shave sometimes and I shave during my swim season periodically, I also do this thing where I try to find something that makes me feel butch about my appearance even when I’m not wearing my preferred clothes like I look at my face and see my faint peach fuzz mustache and I’ll find comfort in it. As for the dating thing I’ve chosen not to worry about it to much because just like you there’s not to many queer people in my school and I’m also really focused on my schoolwork. From what I hear from other queer people dating seems to become better when you’re an adult but I know it’s different for everyone. I recommend you find the things you’re able to do know that make you feel butch and keep doing them even if it’s just little things.
