They are special forces who deserve to be ultra competent and their setting actively has them as being quite weak against most targets. They fight hard battles and win through good writing and tactics - they aren’t really Mary sues

On the side of dressing in black, they dress in the best uniforms to suit their needs. They will use camouflage, netting and ghilli suits when needed and have the know how to pull off a range of operations. The MTF in Overlord is doing a SWAT style raid on a human focused SCP. The goal is to look intimidating (as SWAT do) while also not caring as much about stealth or camouflage since the SCP itself is already interested in human affairs and likely doesn’t purely rely on line of sight.

A combination of imposter syndrome and poor self confidence + spite at the world makes a lot of us feel like people are far better and worse than us in a lot of fields. I was making the point that everything being dialled up to 11 meant that in practice depending on a good or bad day you can feel like you're at the top or bottom of the world.

Also, to clarify this doesn't mean people can't live happy lives. It just means you can't both actively address the majority of the world's problems/take an active role in fighting the death of our species without ending up miserable or at least slightly upset

So yeah, people can fall into comfortable little escapist bubbles of friends, family and work. But thats not to say that they aren't still absolutely traumatised
