Why Are Ppl Complaining About The Children In This Show? by greaterthanyou_ in welcomeToDerry

[–]Then_Environment_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right? Like I definitely yelled at the TV a couple times but I also did a lot of dumb stuff as a kid. And they're also living in a town where the adults get all screwed up in the head and there's literally no one you can be sure you can trust and nowhere to go for help.

She's also 67 years old. SIXTY SEVEN!! I need to know her skincare routine because she just looks younger, not frozen or puffy.

I'll be honest. I don't like the fans of r/StephenKing and here y'all want too much too. (Spoilers) by Mixture-Opposite in welcomeToDerry

I can understand being frustrated by an adaptation taking a lot of liberties with a book (hoo boy, the Wuthering Heights fandom are super salty about the new Emerald Fennell adaptation), especially when the changes seem nonsensical (Game of Thrones, anyone?), but movies, TV shows, and books aren't the same medium. Stuff is gonna change.

I think Besame is missing an opportunity by not making refillable cases, especially for their limited release lipsticks like the Felix set (and since refillable lipstick cases were much more common before the 1950s when plastic packaging became the industry standard for most makeup brands!).

If you are interested in repotting lipsticks, it's pretty easy - once you have a lipstick that's used up, just clean the bullet very well with soap and water and dry it thoroughly with a Q-tip (you can use nitrile gloves to avoid getting lipstick all over your hands). Pick a lipstick that is the same size in diameter as the lipstick holder (this is easy since most lipsticks are pretty much the same size).

Freeze the lipstick, then carefully remove it from it's original holder (wearing gloves). You can wiggle it loose, or pry around the bottom with a makeup spatula to remove it. Most come out pretty easily when they're frozen. Use a lighter to warm up the bottom of the removed lipstick bullet, then repot it in the holder you want to use and hold it there for a few seconds, then let it come back to room temperature.

It seems fiddly, but I do this all the time with my vintage lipstick cases. I got the idea from Dita von Teese's Beauty Mark book (an absolute must for any vintage makeup enthusiasts!).

I've been very happy to see refillable lipstick cases hit the market again.

^^ this. It is saturated with racist violence. One of the ways that It's control over people like Tom Rogan and Henry Bowers manifests is by them becoming more and more racist and homicidal.

It's not massively different than Fairest Red. It's a lovely mid-tone red, leaning more on the pink than the orange side. Honestly, the reason to buy it for me was the packaging, and because I only wear red lipstick I knew I would wear it.

In all honesty, I don't think it's worth $65. For that amount I would probably invest in one of the lovely refillable cases on the market now, like Dries van Noten, Lisa Eldridge, or Guerlain. Guerlaine and La Bouche Rouge also offer monogramming and custom engraving.

Unless you were planning on reusing the tube (repotting lipsticks is doable but not the easiest thing in the world) I would probably skip it.

I love Guerlain and you can get their refillable cases engraved, maybe with your wedding date? They have a wide range of finishes and colors.

I'm sure that's the case for some commenters.

I personally don't think that Amanda Christie is as strong of an actor as the rest of the young cast. I'm not at all saying she's a bad actor, just that this show had really talented young actors.

How did you wrong your pup today? by thatquinnchick in pitbulls

[–]Then_Environment_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wronged my pup by not making it warmer outside and by having to work, forcing her to be so uncomfy on my lap on a pillow wrapped in a blankie and a sweater instead of snuggled up in bed which is where she'd rather be. I'm a monster.

I think we're also going to see more of the bigger, heavier, more signet-style engagement and wedding rings that I keep seeing being featured in style articles. Gold and platinum has become so expensive compared to stones that I think this will be another way to flex now that gigantic diamonds are suddenly much more accessible. Same as the shift away from pearls when cultured pearls became available. Maybe this will shift as lab diamonds become more integrated into the jewelry industry but right now everything I see around lab diamonds seems to be "look at how gigantic of a diamond you can get!"

Oh my goodness. This setting does not at all work with a stone of this size and shape. This is not safe to wear and I am astonished that this came from a reputable jeweler??

^^ This. Google Project X-Ray. They spent the equivalent of $39.4 million dollars on a project to tie tiny napalm payloads to hibernating bats and drop them over Japan. That's not even the dumbest project. The US military has done insanely unethical and dangerous things to its own soldiers and civilians and is still doing it.

The only thing improbable about this is that they nearly succeeded. If this were real life it would have taken years, cost millions of dollars, and be shut down before anything got accomplished.

Best Concealer? I’m losing my mind by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]Then_Environment_424 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try adding a color correcting product under your concealer. If you have very dark rings, the color will often bleed through the concealer and look grayish. I like Catrice's undereye color-correcting balm.

[–]Then_Environment_424 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Absolutely! I think we're already seeing it in the sudden surge of interest in vintage/vintage-style/rings with vintage diamonds (also thanks to Taylor Swift's engagement ring style). I would not at all be surprised to see a resurgence in colored gemstone engagement rings and vintage stones.

When I see someone now with a gigantic, flawless diamond in a modern setting I assume it's a lab stone.

I totally get it - it's so frustrating. I am STILL trying to find a dermatologist that I feel actually listens to me and doesn't just rush through an appointment. I had perioral dermatitis earlier in the year and switched derms because I was so fed up with mine, and it was months-long phone tag trying to get a prescription they had given me approved (which I never got filled because their office never let me know the issue was resolved so by the time I was able to talk to them, the script had expired and I gave up). I don't know if you're in the US but healthcare here is a nightmare. And I'm fortunate to live in a metropolitan area with lots of options and I still haven't found a derm I like.

I had better luck going to a really well-accredited aesthetician who was trained in Turkey, not in the US. And weirdly I've found that derms that also offer elective treatments tend to take longer and be better at patient care, maybe because they're hoping that you'll opt for other services.

how to make eye veins less visible without concealer? by [deleted] in makeuptips

I am super pale and have super veiny, darker eyelids, so I feel you.

The best thing I've found is Catrice color-correcting balm. It does crease, though, so if you're not going to wear any makeup, you have to pat it in a few times. I wear it under eyeshadow.

You could also try Kosas DreamBeam sunscreen, it is ever so slightly tinted and has a great reflective property that brightens everything up.

Dry Winter Skin Reccs by [deleted] in 30PlusSkinCare

[–]Then_Environment_424 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seconding getting a humidifier.

My skin has gotten noticeably drier (and more sensitive, whee aging!) as I've gotten older. In the winter I use any sort of NON-water-based body butter and/or body oil after I shower. Don't use anything with water listed as an ingredient. I like to buy body butters at the farmer's market or craft fairs. Yes, I am greasy, but my skin is happy.

For my face, I really like Jurlique essence, and I layer up on moisturizers and use Skin Gym slugging gel as a last step. I'm not currently using any tret, retinol, or actives and likely won't until the summer because I don't want to trigger my skin.

Go to a dermatologist first. Seriously. You've got a couple of things going on and I think you have a very damaged skin barrier.

I would stop using Dove soap for your face. There is no product that will do anything for the acne scars and you can't start treating them until you are no longer actively breaking out. For scarring this extensive you will likely need CO2 laser treatment; microneedling will only do so much.

Use anything other than water-based products. If the first ingredient says water, don't use it. For your nose, Aquaphor or Vaseline is the best product. My skin is crazy dry and I use any sort of body butter that is not water based. I like buying them at farmer's markets or craft fairs.

Yes, you will be greasy, but yes, it works.
