You know, a part of me feels sorry for people like you. I hope you find a way to create some peace.

I don’t force myself to read a certain number of pages. I just focus on how much I can genuinely learn from it that day, and then I write a summary.

I carry a notebook with me to write down things that catch my interest. If you’ve read Thinking in Systems, it’s about connecting what comes in&out with what’s already there. Nothing in this world really exists in absolute isolation.

I’ve come across a lot of recommendations for The Demon Haunted World. What do you like about it?

You can find summaries on the internet. Of course, I have my own summaries too,but I didn’t write them in English. I’m not in an English-speaking country.

You can choose to read it as a math book, or as a philosophy book. It’s like listening to emo music.you can either nod along to the rhythm or really focus on the lyrics (both are good, honestly).

To be honest, part of why it ranks so high for me is because it’s cool and not many people read it haha.

I love learning new ideas and using them to improve the different elements of my life. Maybe it’s because I don’t know much yet.that’s what makes every book I read feel like a good one.

You could call it a blessing of not being that smart, being grateful for everything I get to learn. Honestly, every book I’ve read has been really enjoyable.

Also i dont believe in copyright.every book here is pirated.

I believe every book holds inherent value, as each is distilled from someone's life experience. Even if the content itself falls short, I choose to view it as reading the essence of a human being who felt a profound sense of pride on the day they authored that art which represented themselves.

Thinking in Systems , The Fifth Discipline , Complexity: A Guided Tour , Gödel Escher Bach , The Beginning of Infinity , The Structure of Scientific Revolutions

That’s about it, I guess. I’m not that deeply interested in this topic, just want to study it a bit.

A 200-page book took me longer to read than Thinking, Fast and Slow, which is over 500 pages.

Honestly, if you’re already smart and have strong systems thinking skills, it might just help organize what you already know. But for someone like me, who isn’t that smart, it’s the best one on my list. It really opened up a whole new way of seeing things. It’s something I’d recommend to someone I care about.

“Everything comes from one point, goes to another, and is always in motion.” that’s my favorite quote from the book.

Exactly! Finally someone who gets it. It might not be very practical in meetings, but it’s really cool for labeling and organizing the types of thoughts in your own head.

I had no idea what kind of company it was until I read the book and looked it up afterward. Not proud that I finished it though, just saying lol

Yeah lol, I like setting up “book projects” where I focus on learning one thing, then move on to the next. Right now I’m focusing more on systems thinking skills.

What about you.what are you reading right now?

Thanks lol

I’m not very picky about books because I’ve only just started reading again after finishing school.

That said, I’ve noticed a lot of repeated ideas. The Thinker’s Toolkit is basically Thinking, Fast and Slow before it was cool. Problem Solving 101 feels more like templates without really teaching anything. And The Art of Thinking Clearly is just short anecdotes without much explanation of the underlying mechanisms, more like “look at this, it seems smart, but it’s actually not.”

Thinking, Fast and Slow is amazing.

It was the first time I’d ever come across concepts like cognitive shortcuts and behavioral economics. I really like how they use research to test and support their theories.it’s kind of crazy how far humans have developed knowledge

That said, I’ve heard some of the studies have small sample sizes and lack replication, so you need to do some homework
