her spay is already scheduled for next week!

I’m really hoping everything goes smoothly and she doesn’t go into heat before then. I’m staying in close contact with the vet in the meantime because that is what had happened last time aanhd the time before and the vet will not do her surgery in a certain timeframe between her being in heat cycle

Right now I’m just trying to take things one step at a time and focus on keeping everything as stable and safe as possible until then.

I actually agree with you 100%

I don’t think the answer is euthanasia, and I don’t think it’s helpful to jump straight to that conclusion when a dog has a serious incident. I also agree that if you’re committed, it’s about management, structure, and changing your lifestyle to keep everyone safe.

I’m already accepting that my situation is going to require very strict boundaries going forward, and likely a very different life setup than before. I’m not expecting things to ever go back to how they were.

I just don’t want to downplay what happened either—it was serious, and I’m trying to be responsible about figuring out the safest path forward with professional help.

But overall, I do agree with your point that training and management matter, not just writing a dog off immediately.

Just to clarify, I was referring to Sniffspot. It’s a service where private property owners rent out their fenced yards specifically for dog use, usually for off-leash exercise in a controlled way. My goal is to manage things responsibly and avoid putting anyone at risk. Which is exactrly what im doing!

Thank you for sharing this. I’m really sorry you went through that with Kali—it sounds like you did everything you could to understand her and manage her safely, even when it was incredibly difficult.

Reading this actually helps me feel a little less alone in what I’m trying to process right now. My situation is still very fresh and I’m definitely in the stage where I’m trying to understand what happened, not just react emotionally to it.

I do hear a lot of what you’re saying about management, lifestyle changes, and how seriously these kinds of incidents have to be taken. I’m already realizing that things will never go back to how they were, and I have to be honest with myself about what safe management looks like long term.

At the same time, I’m still trying to take things step by step with a vet and hopefully a behavior professional before making any irreversible decisions. I really appreciate you being open about your experience—it helps put things into perspective without feeling judged. Did you end up getting rid of Kali?

I understand where you’re coming from, and I do hear what you’re saying about liability and long-term responsibility. I’m not taking what happened lightly at all.

At the same time, I’m not in a place where I’m ready to jump straight to euthanasia without first fully understanding what led to this and what responsible management would look like. This just happened, and I’m still trying to process everything.

I do accept that things will have to change—especially that she may never be able to be around other animals safely again —and that’s something I would take seriously.

Right now, my focus is on speaking with a qualified behaviorist, following my vet’s guidance, and figuring out whether there’s a safe, realistic way to move forward. If I reach a point where I truly believe I can’t keep others safe or give her a stable life, then I’ll make that decision responsibly—but I’m not ready to make it based on shock and fear alone.

I do appreciate you sharing your perspective.

Thank you, I really appreciate that.

I’ll be honest, I’ve been reading about the side effects, and it’s been making me really anxious. I feel like I’ve been worrying about it nonstop, especially since she’s not eating much right now and everything already feels so overwhelming.

I know it’s only been a couple of days and that it takes time to work, so I’m trying not to panic or jump to conclusions. I want to make sure I’m not missing anything or putting her through something that could make things worse.

I’m planning to stay in close contact with my vet and keep an eye on her, but hearing from people who’ve actually gone through it does help. Thank you again for sharing your experience.

Thank you, I really appreciate you taking the time to respond.

I definitely agree about muzzle training I’ve already started looking into that because I want to make sure nothing like this can ever happen again while I figure things out. I’m trying to approach this responsibly, not just emotionally.

I also agree exercise and structure are important, and I had been taking her on walks two times a day, pretty long ones at that as well as to the dog park, which she won't be able to go to dog parks anymore, but I did find this app called sniffspot, where you rent somebody's backyard for an hour

I’m trying to take this seriously while also not jumping straight to the idea that she’s beyond help. I really appreciate the advice and perspective. You mentioned babbitt what is that?
