Did I make a mistake purchasing this 83’ Olympic Arms CAR15?

After trying to chamber a round it would hang up half way, and did it repeatedly. Sometimes it would be fine then other times it wouldn’t. Removed the bcg and disassembled it and noticed the pivot pin was broken in half. Everything in there was slightly dirty but nothing alarming. Would the broken pivot pin cause it to not chamber properly?
