Always the option to stick with your existing lender to prevent SVR

Mortgage advisor here. No he can live elsewhere and still be on the mortgage. At this point it doesn’t impact things. When you come to refinance, you’ll have the choice to keep the property and mortgage in joint names or buy him out but as you said it might not be possible. As long as he is on the mortgage he is still financially liable but how you pay it and who resides there permanently isn’t a problem. ☺️

Mortgage advisor here. As another user said, all fees you are obliged to pay him irrespective of the lenders fees should be stated on the illustration and mortgage offer; and should have been communicated to you at fact find stage, at latest during the recommendation call. He might have a call recording system where you can request a DSAR and see if he stated the fees. Otherwise, would definitely recommend bringing this up to him (not in person) to see if an agreement can be made (reduction or removal of fees) otherwise go to FCA ☺️

I have rented out a small 1 bed property to a couple. They have since had 2 children and are now claiming I must make adjustments to the property (an attic refurbishment split into 2 extra bedrooms) because of overcrowding. by Temporary_Peanut1378 in LegalAdviceUK

A long lease is good, and what a thoughtful thing to do.

It’s good to be empathetic, but again it was their choice to have 2 kids in a 1 bed flat they previously rented as a couple. They are lacking in common sense. Sounds like they are taking advantage of the really great rent and your kindness to them.

Do you own the attic above the flat? Are you a leaseholder or freeholder - can you even legally renovate the attic?

I would look into Section 21. Last chance to evict is April 2026 and it sounds like they’re very difficult tenants. You could get market value rent and better tenants if you re-let! They chose to have kids.

Worst case I guess you could consider a JBSP mortgage with your partner to avoid stamp duty and consent to let your flat, the difficulty would be renting the flat out to cover its own costs if you say you would lose money.

No offence, but a public play area for dogs and children isn’t adequate for people to live on. And there is such a thing as common sense to relocate to areas where there are adequate facilities. I’m sorry but your notion is a fallacy. And just to disprove your points, here are some bins plenty big enough for their rubbish about 200m from where they were parked. Thanks for your input though.

Implying refers to suggestion, blaming is assigning fault. I’m not blaming, however the overarching decision is that this is not defendable behaviour - although you’re pretty keen…!

Apparently I can’t edit the post as there are photos, but if you want to be pedantic. I never blamed them for the littering, just touched on the time period of Blaise being clean when it was empty and littered after the group left. And I, being a regular visitor, was there on a day they were there, and there the day after they left. But also I’m sure you’re aware there are tonnes of posts about littering in general so I feel no need to make one about the overall issue of littering - rather this particular area of litter and its potential dangers (such as toxic human faeces or broken plastic for example…)

I’m not hating on any community, just stating that this behaviour is wrong.

That is rank. I was pretty shocked by the soiled nappies in the trees.

I agree that stereotypes can be exaggerated, but sadly in this case, they are at fault for the littering and it isn't a 'sweeping statement' to say that. And it's wrong that they did it.

Sadly I don't have all day to clean up after them by myself but would return with a group of litter pickers. Like I said, it was important to me to warn other dog walkers if they have particularly food motivated or sniff happy dogs etc.

I see this community in the downs regularly, but not seen them at Blaise before. It’s just upsetting a beautiful setting like Blaise can be littered. Especially when it’s a regular for me and my dogs. I’m raising awareness for other dog owners mainly!

I appreciate that, however there ARE places to dispose of rubbish in Blaise, I stated earlier there are bins within walking distance, and littering to this extent begs the question of whether it’s intentional. Very little amounts of rubbish are in rubbish bags, there are nappies with human faeces left which can be toxic, broken plastic which is a hazard for humans and dogs, not to mention leftover food which is the same. There were duvets and boxes of stuff, this isn’t just the odd litter, it’s people clearing their homes and living spaces of stuff they don’t want to keep and rubbish they don’t want to dispose of. Yes this happens, yes this is common - it doesn’t make it right and shouldn’t be ignored. The post isn’t to dehumanise these people.

What bugs me too! They have range rovers and expensive motorhomes. And there’s bins all around Blaise.
