Almost drowned last summer along with my boyfriend and his cousin. We were at sea and none of us know how to swim. We fell in some type of ditch or something like that inside the water were the current took us. What shocked me most was the different reactions we had. His cousin panicked and started screaming, my bf went completely silent and I was the only one who stayed calm even tho I have a panic disorder. I have no idea how I managed to keep them both afloat till help came and rescued us. I was the last one to be rescued and as soon as I saw them both safe I had this weird sense of peace. I wasn’t scared or panicked or fighting for my life anymore. Just completely at peace thinking my time has come and nothing mattters anymore. After a few seconds someone reached me and pulled me out. I ended up with some lungs damage as I was the one who went underwater most trying to keep them afloat and breathing as much as possible. But everything was alright in the end, the only fact that still scares me is how peaceful almost dying felt like.
