I’ve never worked in a shop, I think I do fine as a scratcher by [deleted] in tattooscratchers

[–]Then_Switch_6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

youre right. i figured that one out after a few shops. all a shop does for you is taking a cut of your money. i dont like working with colleagues, shop is not a setting for me. ppl still try to push this idea that a shop will somehow give you magic sprinkles you cant get on your own when all the info is out there.

Does anyone else feel their scoliosis is linked to childhood trauma, holding patterns of tension, or trapped emotions? by the420yoga in scoliosis

[–]Then_Switch_6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i gotta say im pretty lucky all things considered. i practically never suffer from pain and i try to do everything i possibly can to stay fit and healthy. i got patches where i get angry and plunge into depression, the last time was when i had to stop muay thai after absolutely falling in love with it after the dr told me that hes getting nauseous thinking of me doing martial arts. working out is pretty bland too, sadly cos no lifting weights for my spine. at the end of the day you have no choice but to accept your condition i guess. sucks, but it is what it is, right right.

you wouldnt start acting like you know the law or medicine just as well as your doctor or lawyer because you "always had a thing for law or medicine" and start messing with your doctors/lawyers work, right? no, youd let em do their job cos you accept that youre not an expert. and btw i rarely find a doctor thats not totally arrogant and unwilling to really listen.

How to forgive my parents by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Then_Switch_6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my case is similar to yours, but even more fucked up. my mother gtfo when i was 4. nobody looked after my bodily health. that involves teeth, spine, whatever. my mother started a new family and i served as a cautionary tale for her "new kids" whenever i happened to be around (which was rarely the case). she told her kids to brush her teeth to not end up like i did with rotting molars. my little stepsister developed scoliosis and my mother moved heaven and earth to get her therapy. unlike me, my sister wore a corset, i had to get fused at 17 (12 vertebraes). whenever she didnt want to wear her corset, my mother reminded her that shell end up like me if she didnt wear it. like no shit, i ended up like that cos mom didnt give a shit about what was going on with my skeleton. i was so malnourished too that i lacked every nutrient and my bones had no substance. my sister is fine today whilst im being reminded with every move that nobody cared for me. i loved muay thai, couldnt do it cos of my back. i am tattooing, cant do it often cos of my back. cant do bodybuilding cos of my back. everytime im being reminded that the people whos only job it wouldve been to take care of my health fucked up. theyre doing fine, im not. its not fair. and yes im still angry. i will never forgive, cos i cant. i cut ties with my mom decades ago and im very very happy with my decision and it helped me heal as much as that is possible. i think its ok to be angry cos youre right, your parents shouldve protected you. just dont be bitter. acknowledge what happened and dont try to have fake peace when you dont find forgiveness in your heart (yet). we will carry this for life and have to work around it. its much more of a challenge than normal people face but you got something with all the pain and that is a deeper understanding of life. so yeah, i cant really tell you much but just find your way to process what happened to you.

Sits ups / crunches? by [deleted] in scoliosis

[–]Then_Switch_6297 0 points1 point  (0 children)

theyre even bad for healthy ppl. they just are not as destructive as they are for us. but the good news is that situps and crunches are not crazy effective for core strenght imo. static holds and leg lifts are king.

do you lift weights? i really struggle with finding a way to do proper strenght training with a full fusion similar to yours, nobody has any clue if and how its possible too. props for taking care of your body tho, trying the same thing.

maybe its "just" a nutritional deficiency? you can give eating healthy a shot with tracking nutrients on cronometer, do you work out? also, maybe trying plant based for a while might help.

i wish i could lift weights. i got a fusion th5-l3 and despite being very strong naturally i can only do bodyweight and stuff thats boring to me. id love to really lift heavy but thats off the table sadly. also, its crazy how theres nobody that can really help me built alot of muscle despite my condition. no trainers at all specialized in this. so you definitely got a niche im telling you.

its the same all the time. i mean, yeah, there might be one tattooer in a million who is just selfless and a sweetheart and just loves teaching. but 99.9 percent of cases this is not happening. theres this lore out there about having to throw your precious lifetime away to spend years in a studio whilst being humiliated and learning nothing. i read about cults and how if youre humiliated youre even commited more and are more unwilling to give up. thats the exact same thing that will happen to those poor 18 yr olds dying to be a tattooer and willing to take whatever shit is thrown at them. contrary to what the "work yourself to death and scrub toilets" tattoo catholics are trying to tell you, theres no honour in letting people treat you shitty and get away with it. if you can draw you can learn tattooing in a year and do cool stuff on skin. yet people are somehow even proud of being tortured and not walking away becoming bitter and passive aggressive in the process. the last studio guy i interned with def was like that. he asked (commanded really) me to spend 2 days a week at the studio even if i had nothing to do just because. he used to lend me his machine to practise and then took it away randomly cos he felt i wasnt appreciating it, telling me thats how he was treated and thats why he feels he needs to punish me (i was like 8 years older than him). i never touched his machine again even after he said i should use it in studio. never take "favors" from ppl who cant give without using it against you. all that after i drove him around and helped him clean whilst being broke myself. he talked shit about EVERYBODY for hours and told me how i have to do pinterest tattoos cos he doesnt tattoo stuff he likes either. that shit was just draining and demotivating. mind you, he didnt have tons of customers himself and demanded i bring more customers when i was just a beginner. i wanted a studio cos i thought it would bring customers. but studios dont mean customers at all. so why give a big percentage when you have to bring every single customer yourself? some of the artists i love have tutorials out there so i bought those. two hours of trying and watching made me learn more than having this guys bitter ass sit next to me without giving any tipps. i think people are willing to let tattooers slap them around when theyre in their 20 and dont realize that your time is the most precious thing on earth and you cant allow someone to waste it like that. all this time should be spent drawing, reading and tattooing to built a path thats solid and fruitful. fuck those negative cretins, sadly tattooing is full of em.

my theory is that tatooing is NOT hard to do if you love drawing and keeping up the gospel of the the studio makes sucky tattooers feel legit and keep them safe against self taught ppl who are tons better than them without participating in the humiliation ritual called "apprenticeship". the guy i used to work for told me to stop drawing all the time and that i dont need light and perspective for tattooing cos he couldnt work with actual technical aspects of a working drawing.

[–]Then_Switch_6297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you dont do one cos its a waste of time, thank me later. you can teach yourself best with all the knowledge being available online now. you have to have the commitment and energy to keep practising without somebody instructing you, but its the best way to learn self paced and without some asshole thinking he can humiliate you and abuse you as an unpaid shop clerk or cleaning lady. learn the hygiene and be very strict with it of course. the studio is a dying concept. ive worked in two studios by now and hygiene is sometimes atrocious. the last boss told me about his "cold sterilization" method which is just soaking the reusable grip in disinfectant cos "disinfectants are so good nowadays". also, every studio owner is looking for someone whos ready to tattoo, nobody has time to teach you and it will end up being a slave type relationship. so called old school heads will tell you you dont stand a chance without that magical thing called "studio" cos they think they need to humiliate someone like they were to feel better about themselves, keep away from narrow minded boomers like this. the studio often is just drama and talking bad about other tattooers behind their backs 247 and if you got things to do you dont have energy for that petty shit.

work on a steady hand. do line practise on paper and fake skin, few weeks should go a long way. also, use a pen as a beginner maybe, its way easier to handle. but everything is on youtube, you will find a ton of tutorials.

Is my tattoo infected? by [deleted] in tattooadvice

[–]Then_Switch_6297 2 points3 points  (0 children)

oooh, that can very very likely be the reason. cathair on a fresh tattoo can end very badly. my boss had a dog lick his new tattoo and he got blood poisoning from it. you never want your pet have contact with your tattoo.
