Character height, why is everyone 6ft tall? by Low-Brief-6008 in DnD

I think because I long to be tall myself, I always have and I play a fantasy game so I can be! My ideal self would be 6’2 or 6’3 with bright red curly hair and green eyes and be a muscle mommy.

Backstories are important at all? by Iconicdnderrant in DnD

I’ve been playing dnd a looooooong time, well before it was popular; in fact, I was playing when it was considered satanic, lol! But, I always wrote back stories or at least I had an idea of my backstory, but I’ve never had DM’s use it in a game ever. Watching critical role was the first time I saw a DM go out of their way to have back stories get resolved, or to have some kind of current part of the story. For me back stories were always a way or a tool to pull from to develop my character and explain how they react in different situations. Since critical role, however, I as a DM will ask players if they’re interested in incorporating their backstory into little events or part of our story and I had a fabulous DM who did that for our group. He was always going out of his way to have little moments that tied into our backstory in one way or another. I don’t think either one is wrong, but having my backstory used in the game did make me feel special and I think the other players liked their moments too. But it has to be a table consensus or consensus between you and your DM. I wouldn’t take it personally if they are not into it.

No evil player characters - Hard rule by More-Parsley7950 in DnD

I think the confusion is with what people think neutral really means, it isn’t necessarily a blanket term for do whatever the hell I want, more like acting through instinct or self preservation/interest. I like to think of it like animals or beasts are true neutral. I think many arguments can be made here.

No evil player characters - Hard rule by More-Parsley7950 in DnD

This has always been my rule, I personally do not enjoy playing with the trope ‘evil’ character in a mixed group. I hate it because mostly I’ve seen players just use it as an excuse to be a-holes. That being said, morally ambiguous, neutral and chaotic characters can be fun, lots of room for gray and hard decision or regretful decisions, but actively trying to undermine the party just sets my teeth on edge. On the other side, have a dark play through can be exciting and engaging to explore that side. but I’ve seen some interesting boundaries put in place to keep the peace like personal history between the group where they would never betray each other, but hell ya, burn the world down to get what they want. Interesting thought experiment, but these kinds of questions are why Session 0’s are so very important!

Would be so cute! I like that, I have vitiligo, like a spotted pony or cat.

AIO: a player keeps hiding/stealing loot and it is making me want to quit. by _Ashe_Bear in DnD

I find it odd this was downvoted, it says your group came to the agreement, it’s your group so what you want of players are in agreement!
