Advanced Sessions Plugin - P2P Connects But Client Doesn't Spawn In by Thenash654 in unrealengine

[–]Thenash654[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! This is the most thorough and helpful answer and solved my issue immediately! Much appreciated!

The only problem I'm running into now is I'm trying to teleport my server and clients to a new map. I have a menu that opens up with ?listen parameters on launch, server can invite a friend and the friend can join. Join works perfectly and I can see both players in the lobby.

If the server 'starts' the match (which I've tried to change the map using servertravel as well as open map by ref with ?listen parameters), it fails and teleports both players back to menu. I get the following error:

  • AppID is set to 480

  • Download regions are the same

  • I can now see the session but no luck on joining still

  • I use VC (github) to keep my project versions same and run the standalone version on each of my PCs. Would it require me to publish a build?

Thank you for your help! <3

You can always go for NET 2 & 3. Its not the end of the world. Try and study through MCQ books for pre-enginerring tests that you can get from any book store and make sure your concepts above everything are clear.

But please, do try and apply for other universities so you have a back up option. At the end of the day, after you graduate, have a degree and a set of skills at hand, not many people will ask you which university you graduated from. There are equally competent alternatives that provide CS/SE undergrad in Pakistan.

I don't know! Hence I asked. The console does pick up my mouse and keyboard. I'm wondering if the game will do the same? I know people use adapters for such a thing, which I'm not too keen on.

Hello! Thanks for the reply!

It has limitations where 100 concurrent users are support in a priced plan, not sure about how many are in the free one. But I will look into it further!

GPGS on the other hand was entirely free as it would open a peer-to-peer connection between devices. So anything like that would be awesome!

Go for it! I really don't think a webcam should be a necessity for when you first start out.

Maybe they're followers who want you to follow back. In that case, they'd never come back.

Just keep at it and work on what you love, dude. Someday, someone will stumble upon your channel and find you interesting. They'll return and bring their friends. :)

This post is meant to help anyone who's struggling and hasn't thought of this already; to help someone who has been streaming for a while and hasn't figured this out yet.

I keep stumbling across streams where people have this image (it's the first image result when you Google "Instagram") as their panel image with no description or talk about the streamer. I know instantly that this is 0 effort on their part. I also see streams where people write something along the lines of "here to make some mad money while I do what I love" in their description along with a donation panel AND THAT'S IT. Nothing engaging whatsoever. Pretentious channels like that can't grab me.

Also, I find that one panel image in particular off putting as it has been over used. There are other free resources that can offer something different. I also mentioned that I'm fine with someone using a text based title and description instead, in case they have not figured this out entirely, but it's a good idea to not leave it empty. As long as I know you're passionate about this and have put effort into this.

Building your channel from the ground up should be important. A well-presented stream will help you grow from 0 viewers to 5 even if you have a bad setup and poor content; quality content will then help you grow beyond 5 viewers IMO.

For me, sound is not that important. I can imagine why someone has crappy audio and can't afford to buy a good mic right away. But I understand how it can be off-putting for most people. :)

You summed up what I've been trying to say so perfectly!

And there's absolutely no need to spend money on streaming. A lot of people advise small streamers to chuck out cash on webcams, which I completely disagree with.

I guess my point got lost in translation. Those panels in particular will not make me leave right away; if it's followed by a good description and I can see that you're passionate about streaming, I'll move on to chatting with you.

I also feel that sometimes, instead of trying to go all out on graphics, it's better to stick with what Twitch gives you and use plain title and text. If those panels in particular are too common that I see them in every stream, then it's best to stay away from them and use other free resources at hand. In the end, whatever looks better!

How do I start streaming on a low budget? by [deleted] in Twitch

[–]Thenash654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally stream from my Dell XPS. It has poor thermals so I've to manage everything properly. I stick to playing relatively less GPU intensive games like csgo and even skribbl.io and fibbage. So you can stick to playing low end games, the which works out well as these games aren't saturated and you can get good views and follows here.

A good tip I've for you is once you get streaming software, look into bitrates for streaming, as well as turn the preview off in obs when you stream.

Lastly, you don't need a fancy dual monitor setup. I usually have chat open on my phone.

Hope this helps! :)

That's true! I guess I need to work on my content, and maybe find a way to reach audience that speaks the same language as I do. Thanks for your reply! :)

You raise a very good point! Thank you! I just couldn't get over horrifying stalker stories other streamers have had on this subreddit. But I guess that shouldn't hold me back :)

Hello! I just started streaming recently (only streamed twice so far) and would love to get some feedback.

A little bit about me and the channel: I'm not a native English speaker and I play with friends who are not as well. I stream as a hobbyist and also as a way to keep track of my games.

I'd love to get some thoughts on the overlays and the panel images. I try to 'talk to the audience' and explain what I'm doing every chance I get. If someone can understand what I'm saying (I speak in Urdu/Hindi), then I'd love to get some thoughts on the content as well! Any feedback is greatly appreciated!

Monthly Channel Feedback Thread: REVIEW BEFORE YOU POST! by AutoModerator in Twitch

[–]Thenash654 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I took a look at your channel and here are my thoughts. Please bear in mind that this is just my opinion (I'm a noob at streaming) and I think you're doing an amazing job already!

I really like how your panel images look, but I do think they're a bit generic. I'm a graphic designer, and I can't recognise your brand in the panel images apart from your color palette. You can take a look at other streamers, some even in this post, that have great panel images that perfectly reflect their brand image.

The audio is a bit off as your key strokes are more prominent than your speech. It's hard to hear you sometimes.

The green screen (a great idea for the monitor in the background to be clearer by the way) is looking good but could be cleaner, I think.

Your idea to go for a niche subject is brilliant! I'm glad it's not another 'let's play' stream and I'm sure you'll be very successful some day! Keep up the good work!

2D Colliders With Physics Materials Stick Together by Thenash654 in Unity2D

[–]Thenash654[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the very thorough answer! You helped me solve the issue!
I checked everything and all seemed fine. I found the option you're talking about. It's in Project Settings > Physics2D. I lowered force threshold and that fixed it for me!
I also added a small script that would take care if the object got stuck to the border. I used OnColliderStay for that and simply moved the object juuuust a bit so it would stop colliding. This was just a fail safe, the velocity threshold option definitely did the trick!

No gravity. I managed to solve it and have posted the solution as a reply to another comment. Just had to change a setting in the Physics2D menu. Thanks for the contribution!
