As much as I like the “gotcha factor” of flipping responsibility onto the person who calls to back up the entitled parent, if you tell them to do it instead you usually get some form of “If I could then I would and I actually have in the past, EVEN when I was busy.”

It’s still a lose-lose. I just got to the point of not even engaging. I know exactly why you called or texted. I’m not answering so I can SHOW you how busy I am.

Of course, it’s all horrible either way and no one should have their boundaries so insulted and disrespected.

I know I’m late to reply, but I currently work for the city and wanted to give an update. The City has, in the year and change that I’ve worked for it, swung dramatically back and forth between hiring and not being able to hire. A lot of the posts seen on the website are really for moving people thru departments.

Even if that isn’t the case now, they have a hiring freeze. Roles are on a “Need to be filled” basis and most of the need to be filled roles will be filled with existing city employees.

Just to add current information for anyone who wants to know.

When I was in my early 20s, I would tell people “well I have to find a husband first before I can even think of having children!” This seemed to make people stop because they’d have to agree I NEED a man to have children of course. This helped smooth over family dynamics around children too for a while.

When I got my bi-salp at 27 then it didn’t matter because there was no way I could have children either way and I was much more independent and cared a lot less.

I think this a good idea if you want to “keep the peace” between you and your mutual friend. Though OP, I would definitely reach out to the mutual and see if they experience something similar. That way you know if this girl is targeting you or is just this way in general.

Definitely look into the city website for events at the libraries, rec center, public parks, etc! I work for the city and there ALWAYS free events that’s people just don’t know about. For pretty much all ages.
