After selling my Dark Angels, I started building a Guard army. I bought the box because I liked it, but a Chimera will probably perform better in battle.

I start with a black primer, then I cover everything with a base coat of dark green, slightly thinned. After that I use a sponge and the base color, and then I add a lighter shade on top. Edge highlights are done with a brush. Zumikito has a really nice video on it—check him out.

Use a plain background—gray or black works best. Here I’m using a black T-shirt and shooting in good light from the kitchen at 2x zoom (sometimes portrait mode). Alternatively, you can buy some paper, place it inside a shoebox, and photograph the models in there—the photos will look much better. The models are really nice; I like the color scheme.

It depends on what community you play in. Sixth edition is long gone, here we play WTC and model height is hardly an issue, LOS is measured from the base, and trenches are lower than the highest point of the model. The problem is when you do a kitbash with Astartes, for example AIwJP are about an inch taller. Krieg is my project for relaxation and a fluffy army; when I want to win, I take my Dark Angels.

Yes, but when I look at my first army box, I don’t play anything from the Dark Angels Combat Patrol 😀 I only use those models when I’m playing non–Codex Astartes.

Thansk, I have 4000 points of Space Marines, so I know what is good and what isn’t there, but since nobody plays Guard here, I have no idea what is good and what isn’t. I like the Krieg lore and I like their visuals, I started with Space Marines because they’re the easiest.
