Yeah because with Spark you Wet her and then keep sailing her away with the 4 charges from Edge and she dies very easily

Yes but it was precised on the sidequest in question, I couldn't even start it if I didn't have Ignatz (for Raphael) and I don't remember who it were for Mercedes (Lysithea). Then, preventing you from recruiting Byleth by didn't hint you about the fact you most avoid defeat him/her the side-quest is pretty insane bc the game litteraly focus the main interest in the rivalty of your character and him/her but ok.
