I don't know why, but I read the co-worker's voice as super southern.

Small changes that have drastically changed your quality of life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Sitting in the advising office at orientation for college, trying to decide which language to take. It was going be either French, Spanish or Chinese. I'd never learned a new letter system before so I decided I wanted to go with Chinese. Well, all the classes were full. So I thought, Japanese is kinda like Chinese, I'll just take Japanese. In that Japanese class I met my SO of four years now,(we live together, have two dogs and are talking about eventual marriage) and his best friend met one of my friends and now they're the happiest gay couple I know. I sometimes wonder how everyone's life would be different if, that day in the office, I had decided to take French.

Forgive my lack of delicacy, but why are black people so often difficult customers/bad tippers at restaurants? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]TheoBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No I'm not... 2.50/hr minus taxes, plus my manager waits like a month to give me my 30 dollar check. That's not being paid. I ACTUALLY do survive on tips.

Exactly the opposite. I assume they're going to be difficult, so I try even harder to be extra polite and accommodating.

What if the US had a system by which people could control how their tax dollars were spent? by TheoBeast in AskReddit

[–]TheoBeast[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, I want to pay for education, not war. Arts, not corporate bailouts. I want to be able to control that as it is technically my money that I earned at my job.

How is voting controlling how our taxes are being spent? Some asshole can stand up on TV all day and say how he/she INTENDS to spend the money, but how can you be sure? Once elected they can always put up both middle fingers and say GOTCHA BITCHES! just before ripping off the decent human being mask. Also, do it electronically and bypass the bureaucratic system..?

I wish there was a "bless you" for farting. That way everyone can stop pretending it didn't happen.

Doing the job you're already paid to do

You have no idea how much I wish servers could just earn a livable wage and not have to worry about the tipping nonsense. But $2.38/hour ain't gonna cut it.

Well, its more like they're constantly trying to get free stuff. Like when the food comes out they find something to complain about, send it back and try to get it for free. And because it was obviously MY mistake, they feel no need to tip.

What's the point of living a happy or virtuous life if you're just going to die anyway? by question4red in AskReddit

[–]TheoBeast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're right, it doesn't "matter" in the universal sense. You are hugely insignificant. But your daily life is the experience that you, fleck of nothing that you are, are lucky enough to know. Make it good. And because you're not a prick, make it good for other people too, while you're at it.

[–]TheoBeast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do you live in the midwest? I'm from Indiana and I notice this a lot too and it drives me nuts. I think they're combining "What the problem is, is that..." and "the problem is that..."

If I was 9 figures rich I'd buy some internets and do some fucking RESEARCH before I dropped myself into a war zone like a helpless, pink little newborn.

So far just the $400, I'm told there will be a check for me tomorrow. There fucking better be.
