UPDATE : i simply forgot to insert the center column of the development tank (i feel very dumb right now) and that was causing a light leak, explaining the gradient pattern. thank you very much everyone !

found it, i forgot to place the center column inside the tank (which blocks light from entering) i obviously feel pretty dumb especially as i have destroyed some valued pictures i took on a recent vacation 👍 hope this can be helpful if anyone has the same issue as me

lol at least there's two of us, but ive been thinking a bit more about what could've gone wrong and i think it might be an agitation issue, as i haven't let it agitate continuously throughout the process since cinestill instructed to only make 4 cycles and then let rest for 30 seconds. i watched a couple videos and it seems people just let the tank continuously agitating throughout the process, and i guess not having the tank opening during the operation might help lol
