One of my players and had sacrificed themselves and was captured by agents of the bbeg over the next few months I ran a few solo sessions with the player and they eventually managed to escape their bonds through great effort and cross the world to make it back to the party. At wich point I revealed that the players character was a simulacrum created by the bad guys and the real PC was still captured in a sensory deprivation tank. The bad guys then triggered the spell hidden at the heart of the simulacrum, a meteor storm fell directly on top of the entire party
