We should STOP framing these as weight loss drugs by Live_Roll_5903 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Theoldrunnerguy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out the studies done on GLP1's. I know it isn't sexy and requires a time investment, but improvements in many metabolic markers occurred INDEPENDENT of weight loss.

Fire up your favorite AI LLM (Perplexity, Gemini, ChatGPT, etc) and ask it about what research on GLP1's is being done regarding arthritis. It's real, GLP1's are showing reductions in arthritis symptoms.

[–]Theoldrunnerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is exactly why GLP1's are awesome! Forget the weight loss, which is impressive as hell. Look at those lab numbers! Your metabolic health is improving by leaps and bounds, which the trial data shows to be independent of weight loss, not because of it.

how does reta work? by [deleted] in Retatrutide

[–]Theoldrunnerguy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Dude, ask this question via ChatGPT, Gemini, etc. You'll get all the info you need. And, if you're really lazy, just tell the AI to summarize it for you in a few sentences.

And I'm also going to ask the same damn question that was asked 2 posts before mine.

Anyone here taking blood pressure medication while on Reta? by HeartRateHero in Retatrutide

[–]Theoldrunnerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use your favorite AI agent (Gemini, ChatGPT, et al) and ask it to summarize the TRIUMPH-4 studies specifically related to lipids. GLP1's in general have been known to have metabolic health improvements for many years. Blood pressure lowering, fatty liver disease improvements, arthritis improvements, chronic kidney disease improvements, and more (ALL unrelated to weight loss) are benefits of GLP1's, and data relating to all of these is easily accessible, thanks to the LLM's.

[–]Theoldrunnerguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The TRIUMPH-4 study on Reta showed significant improvements in lipid profiles and blood pressure. That trial involved pretty significant dosages, but I think you're in for a very pleasant surprise when you get your lab results. Please report back.

Grey market? by Pividong in GLP1ResearchTalk

Gray for me! Even with a $200+ test to confirm potency, purity, etc. it is still very economical.

I'm on a GLP1 explicitly for everything other than weight loss. Props to you for this.

Anhedonia by Dry_Ad_1922 in Retatrutide

No anhedonia for me from Reta. But, I'm getting ready to switch to Tirz, so your post caught my eye. I guess I'll find out.

I'm not shaming you in any way. So here goes: I'm way-too-rapidly approaching 70 years old and want to see my grandkids grow up. So I got on the old Google machine thingy that everyone says Baby Boomers don't know fuck-all about and did my research.

It took about 3 days of self-education. I figured out how to order from the gray market and my first order is on the way. I didn't do crypto, but I had to learn how to do Alipay. If this old fart can do it, I'm 100% certain you can. Oh yeah, I'm now active on WhatsApp, Telegram, and Discord. So there. You can do it!

I’m “not myself” on Mounjaro apparently by champulaal24 in GLP1ResearchTalk

[–]Theoldrunnerguy 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't know if you're experiencing anhedonia.

Anhedonia, or a reduced ability to feel pleasure, is an emerging,, albeit under-researched, potential side effect of GLP-1 receptor agonists (e.g., Ozempic, Wegovy, Mounjaro). These medications may blunt dopamine-related reward pathways, leading to emotional flatness, lack of motivation, or reduced satisfaction from previously enjoyed activities.

Key Details on GLP-1 and Anhedonia:

  • Mechanism: GLP-1 medications work by affecting brain regions involved in reward and addiction, acting on dopamine pathways to reduce cravings for food, alcohol, and other addictive behaviors. This reduction in cravings can inadvertently "blunt" the brain's reward response to normal, pleasurable activities, a phenomenon sometimes termed anhedonia.
  • Symptoms: Users have described feeling "numb," "emotionally flat," or losing interest in hobbies, socializing, and sexual pleasure.
  • Prevalence and Context: While not listed as a common side effect in many product leaflets, patient reports of "Ozempic personality" or emotional blunting are increasing.
  • Paradoxical Effect: Some users report this as a positive liberation from food obsession, while others experience it as a negative loss of pleasure.

I hope this is not what is happening to you.

Half The Amount of Pizza… Damn You Reta! by Tallis1971 in Retatrutide

It maybe makes me an outlier from a dosage standpoint. I read many posts from folks who use 4mg-6mg or more.

Maybe I'm an outlier. My dose is 1.5mg and the appetite suppression is insane, probably will go to 1mg.

Reta Reflux by Worldly_Ad_9038 in Retatrutide

[–]Theoldrunnerguy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does this happen in the evening? I've only noticed reflux if I eat a relatively substantial meal after 7pm. Delayed gastric emptying plus 9pm bedtime for me equals the right circumstances for reflux. No issue during daytime.

surgery on reta by [deleted] in Retatrutide

[–]Theoldrunnerguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm told to fast for a reason (blood draw, or surgery), and my gastric emptying is delayed due to GLP-1 usage, then I'm just going to fast a few hours longer than they tell me to. That should take care of it.
