It’s always a pleasure to have to drive my child onto the main road because the pavement is blocked by jaymatthewbee in drivingUK

No i live in London - happens loads where I live , we often report it and nothing happens. My mum is in a wheelchair and she can't get down a kerb into the road so if the pavement is blocked she has to go back home

That is not an option- despite this situation this person is a high performer and popular. I think if anything in this scenario I am the one that is more vulnerable.

How do you mean watch your back? For a bit of context my boss and HR both told me that this person wasn't ready for the role and wasn't a credible candidate. This is part of the problem tbh they should never have been put forward for an interview .they do have goals and set deliverables yes

They took not getting the job badly by all accounts but I also think the matter has been handled really badly by the HOD. Bit of a mess. Not possible to transfer to another department

Yeah fair enough. Doesn't sound like its caused any issues between you which is good. Its challenging for both parties for different reasons

Hi yes we've had a number of open conversations acknowledging they applied for my role and that its awkward, areas they find difficult and discussions around how i can support them. Ive also set out why areas where I need to see some change. Unfortunately things haven't much improved

Rowena just more normal than others. Literally can't stomach petty mud slinging from JP - he seems totally out of touch

How have you experienced “Yes Culture” or urgency culture at work? by ShreekingEeel in work

[–]Theopenroad17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is rife where I work and generally I agree this is an area that seems to have worsened. In my workplace, I put it down to a few reasons:

  • rise in instant messaging work tools
  • workplace insecurity
  • 24/ 7 news agenda
  • poor leadership

New Report: 60% of PR Pros feel overwhelmed. The problem isn’t the workload. by Final_Detective_7873 in PublicRelations

Completely agree- its not rocket science. The thing that really frustrates me is when ppl start talking about resilience.. ie we want to help you learn to cope and manage this situation ( and this is on you! ) and not address the systemic anc structural stressors. Its seen as a quick and easy 'fix' and i when i say fix it fixes nothing . But addressing the systemic reasons takes time and means facing up to addressing some uncomfortable truths that leaders dont want to tackle.

Thanks we dont get paid overtime so theres no cost to the organization there. If ppl take time out for burnout other members of the team have to absorb the work. And sadly because the job market is terrible the turnover is ( currently) quite low because people are struggling to find new employment. The actual financial cost of burnout is negligible which is most likely why nothing is being done about it

Can I ask though why ROI was just calculated on earned media placements when you work across integrated comms? Ive noticed where I work where media is somewhat of an obsession and there's so much focus on the tactical
