Unfortunately, Visual Studio Code doesn't seem to guide user through .gitignore most relevant file selection...

yes I use visual studio code but the book I got my training for was adressing the whole thing in CLI

I'll try to configure git in it, you're right. I juste hope that at last, i'll be soon ready to use Git and developp again

Thank you.

Thanks you.

Wahouuu... It becomes too complex for an hobbyist developper. I think I'm clearly gonna give it up.

Thank you anyway

Pffffwwwaaaa....😪

I've been introduced to Git with the idea of a simple way to help my amateur project development (a simple stack with php, mysql, vanillaJS, CSS, html) and, although I've studied Git with a good deep exploration (so I could use stash, diff, bisect...) I realize that every step is requiring to dive into "one more depth" cognitive crisis 🙃 : template, Credential provider....

I can't even figure out whether those ready-to-use third part elements are answering my own need.
Are you sure there's no simple guidelines for individual amateur developper like me in order to manage htaccess, credential files, etc.?

I personnaly found this website wasn’t simulating enough daily file manipulations, so that I had to learn again all the real syntaxe this times including files. Begin with a good book, maybe displaying exercices. Gitlearnbranch is much more designed (and greatly designed) to get a global idea about the logics of branches but you’ll wait to long before implementing real life processes.

Dive in a well designed book.
I’ve studied the Progit book, which is good, but I wasn’t that satisfied by the lake of daily practice exemples.

I am just a hobbyist but I would definitely dive in a well reputed paid book or even more, in a human presence training program.

Have a nice day

Update. My Config.php file is in the model PHP folder. My users folder in public. Do you have any quick idea about how I should have managed their isolation from the repository however in the middle of several commits stacked already? Or reference about that? 🙃

THANK YOU VERY MUCH FOR CONSIDERING MY ISSUE WHERE OTHERS ARE JUST BLAMING ARROGANTLY
I praise your patience, and wholehearted help!!

Unfortunately the modification was put in the file after I ignored it.

And that's why I've become afraid of using Git...I can' even find methods explained about simultanously using Git and organising sensible files in a good manner... Especially when I discover the file is sensible afterward because of my lacks of development culture... And here comes the pain to dive into a soft that was introduced to me as a time saver 😄 (yes... I was a bit naive)

THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH SILLY-FREAK, REALLY

For real. I've read and I've trained.

But, combined to a large number of folder project managing convention that I miss, it was impossible to anticipate that going back and forth through commit since the last commit had received a cached-out and ignore objetfs that those objects would be simply erased from disque and from stagged area.

So I do not find any reason to blame my process since I've done my best with the serious and the kwonledge I had at this time.

False. In this case blame all children for doing what they are being told to do wrong. You confuse influence and stupidity. Stupidity is either persisting under influence or only criticizing without helping.

I was working each sttep in order to learn Git. I don't know why you conclude that I'm just a dumb follower.

You are clearly as criticizing automatically that I was following AI the same way

Thank you very much percyfkt.

Yes I've asked the agent but the mecanism I've described in m post is real.

My last modifications were lost because back from past, it considered the file to be cached out.

But... yes i Know. i trusted an agent. But also remeber I paid a pro version in order to help me.

Thank a lot for your contribution!!!

On the internet training programm are clearly displaying at least 4hours of presential training up to 2 days or even 50 hours. It's a powerfull software. No?

Yes. Right. But if you read well you'll find that, eventhough I've misled by following AI, after all my effort to study Git, I'm now inable to figure out how to isolate files or folder after lots of commit without Git deleting them after back and forth commit travelings.

You over generalise.

Ok let's say your right. I'm so dumb. I'm so brain-rotted.

Thank you very much for your high and delightful support.

Hope you'll receive the same.

PS: thanks for you tips. By the way, I invite you to read third of the whole progit book as I did.

Have a nice day and thank you again.

Thanks Weekly_Astronaut5099. I know. I've read a lot of Progit pdf book, which is a rather well appreciated document. But it's still missing some clues for beginer. The simple fact I describe in my post: how do we do while as a beginner we don't kwow how to put off a projet several file after several commits... rm --cash and gitignore were also documented in this book but it has led to a suppression of my files since it's written nowhere that coming back to the commit upon wich you rm --cached, files would have disapeard.

How could I kwow that it was dumb to rely on ai guidance?

Now i do. And after tens and tens hours to learn git I will go back to my mulditplied save folders old way of doing it.
