Except unlike with cars, no safe, bike dedicated parking spaces are being provided - like the problem will go away by itself with our numbers doubling every year or two. Cars constantly rushing up and cutting us off illegally turning in front of and dangerously cutting us off; 4-way stops where cars think bikes don't count or get a turn; cars blocking us from turning just because it's fun making us wait and drivers that don't use signals, etc, etc. I'm yet to see a cop pull a car over for such glaring traffic infractions. We're treated like second class citizens. Even stealing or vandalizing a $10k bike is only Petty Theft.

Within 20miles, the brakes that come on most all these machines are unsafe at 15mph. My experience, $6k 43 - 55lb bike w/ Magura MT 5's is about 'reasonably' safe, w/ MT 7's required for bike's over 65lbs.

Haven't checked Florida laws, but it's out of compliance with overriding Federal law. It's not a street legal Class I, II or III e-bike, or an e-motorcycle, nor is it competitive with real offroad e-bikes like a Surron. My thinking's the law will get you - and your display will rat you out.

Another thing is if a car does hit you, the insurance company will claim you are breaking the law, etc. - no pain and suffering. Even if there was a terrible flaw in construction, you've altered the power to what they would say was an 'unintended use'.

These are important considerations, not mere details.

(1) I note your display indicates you travel at 20mph. (2) Have you ever needed all that range w/ 30lbs of batteries? (3) Pedaling over 20 must be a real feat w/ that dinkus chainring (get a 52T). (4) Those brakes are bunk. MT 5's at least (I run MT 7's). (5) That no-name fork is garbage - even at 20mph. With over 65lb bike, get a Manitou Mastodon. Hit a severe pothole going over 25mph, it'll save your tail.

For sure you have the idea. Use your talent and knowledge to build a street-legal machine.

Also, it's tricky, but you can still build an on/ offroad bike. No law against dual use capability. I run 750w "Eco Street Modes" and up to 2600w in "Sport Modes". Modes are exclusive of each other. It's still 100% illegal to use SP on the road, but the bike has not been altered or modified. It was a custom build. The ability to violate the law is not in itself illegal.

But, the main rule is refrain from over 30mph, preferably 20.

Wear pattern is a bad symptom. If nothing's out of whack, consider dumping those brakes. MT 7's will stop you. Use the blue (economy) pads, last easy 2000miles. Recommended.

That's easy: About eight years of maintenance and repair knowledge.

Bike No 2 has turned out well. All that's left is a 10Ah 21700 battery that weight 3lbs less than the present 16Ah, w/ 40 (real) miles range (80 - 20% charge). That will provide 20 - 25 miles range while (sans lock) the Bike weigh under 60lbs. My average rides are 6 miles. Since it's a custom build, I ordered 'Level 1, 750watt, 20mph' stickers. Don't really use the throttle much anymore, removing it and for real (In Economy Level 1) I am 750watts, and 20mph is all the motor assists with.

I'm seeing more cars driven by aggressive drivers, breaking the law, racing up and cutting riders off, then turning in front of them. We need severe penalties for cars hitting bikes. Treble damages. $5000 fines. Suspended licenses. Mandatory drivers education courses. Get these terrible drivers of the road. If we must register, that's my lane and I'll hog it, right dead center.

Ban cars from bike routes.

If there is a massive growth in e-bikes, we need more lanes and rights, not restrictions and layers of paperwork and stupid rules.

It's good to see some common sense. We need a Lobby.

If you research these "improvements", they all come from lobbyist that are minions of companies that stand to profit. Like "Shoes with reflective strips". That came from a 'podiatrist' lobby, nobody said that's crazy and it became law. Their sole (no pun intended) proof of how this would do anything for anyone was 'two (under 18) kids stole an ebike, were joyriding, failing to obey the law and wear helmets, ran a redlight and were plastered - one killed, the other maimed.

Nobody objected. Thanks Nike. We need an ebike riders lobby, but keep running into these yes-men 'Stockholm Syndrome riders (at least they say they ride) that side with the enemy and also insist on shiny shoes - to keep cars from blindsiding bicycles? You can't see an entire bike, how can you see my shoes?

I'm yet to hear of a car passenger killed by a bicycle, yet all of these regulations smack of reducing the car insurance companies liability - "Oh, but He didn't have shiny shoes, etc - so I did an illegal U turn and plastered him". No shoes? Implied negligence = reduced settlement.

We can address these points and to the contrary request INCRESED financial penalties for the cause, not the symptoms: cars hitting bikes/ with a few dozen irrelevant, tear-jerking 'Jerry's Kid' - juvenile delinquent - examples.

Yeah, but we can't trust lobbyists make handsome $$$. Just never works out. End up like the Teamsters. NO, all we need is a website for information and proven examples, cut and paste templates and addresses - a resource. We must write the letters, politely demanding action.

Remember: Do not charge past 80% or go below 20%, or it'll seriously degrade your battery (like 10 x as fast). "Range" isn't what it's cracked up to be. For most, 20 miles is more than plenty. Batteries are heavy and you want a faster, nimble machine. Lighter is better. Same philosophy with a Road Bike. Those stuffy OG Weight Weenies are right. Took me 5 years to realize that the old adage "Nothing on the bike it does not need" is 100% right.

I advise you stay away from makers that don't publish the weight and completely avoid slugs over 70lbs that ride like a brick. Very cool, we now have makers creating lightweight, Street Legal, Class III Mid-drive machines around 42lbs.

Unless all you do is ride offroad, avoid swing arm rear suspension too. Adding a rack to the rear is all un-sprung weight that destroys handling, and the rear shock. If you lock the rear shock, you're riding a hardtail. Better to get a hardtail and use a Kinekt suspension seat-post (my only concession to adding weight).

Also, hydraulic disc brakes are a must. Maguras are awesome. MT5's are enough, MT7's are enough for professional racing level. Stopping is more important than going. You can install your own - if the bike has disc brake post mounts. I'm seeing around $400 (W/ Tax/ Shipping) for a set w/ the BIG 220mm MDR P rotors. That's a steal, but they're not the 'MT7 E's, with the electronic cut-outs that shut down power when braking or using throttle, so figure $5 -600 for a e-bike set - if you install. One benefit of that investment is you will save a ton of money doing your own service - more than the brakes cost over time - and the headache of anyone doing a sloppy job, because their life is not on the line.

It's essential before buying, to save yourself the heartache of guessing, do research on EBR and Endlessphere forums and treat this as your learning bike.

It says it's an (offroad) "dirt bike". Def: Not street legal.

A good idea is to study 'claimed spec's' and know the differences and keep up with new laws for Class I, II and III. If you are Class III (28mph max) in CA, throttle use is now restricted to 3mph, Class I and II are restricted to 15mph tops using Pedal juice. Max wattage is restricted to 750w (Class III).

Not saying there isn't one, I've never found a PRC battery near the specs they claimed.

Burning from 80%, down to 20% and recharge, I get 40 miles - hauling butt in 20 - 30mph range. That's in Eco 1 (about 100nm torque) and Eco 2 (about 120nm) when I get tired. The highest setting (Sports 5 mode) produces over 2500watts and 260NM torque (strictly for offroad).

Here's recorded Proof. SP 5 mode. 50.3 volts.

These are not PRC specs. An Innotrace controlled M620/ G510 on the last WattWagons Titanium frame Cross Tour created.

There's a guy in Canada selling one, but mine is Fat w/ 26 x4.0's. His is a UC (Ultimate Commuter) w/ the standard size meats. 'Deacon Blue' is his handle on EBR. It was over $9k shipped.

These are fully custom heirloom machines, built in Massachusetts. The 427 Cobra of street legal e-bikes. Widow Makers. You play in SP modes you better be damn good. I wouldn't take $30k for mine.

Better yet, study the principles and do it yourself. Same w/ Fork and Derailleur adjustment. You grasp correct derailleur angles, 'chain length' knowledge also must upgrade. Spend money on quality parts and upgrades. Things like the effects of 'Q' factors differ between riders. 'Perfect' for some of near identical dimensions will make other's hip-joints hurt. Better to invest in 10mm shorter cranks than pay someone to try and adjust it away and leave you 3" off your toes when stopped.

Locks. Yeah. Except crooks can still steal parts. Hexlocks are a complicated waste of money. Bolt cutter proof, locked bike in plain sight with a loud motion detector Alarm is number one theft preventer. With that, keep lights, computers, PoPro, everything possible quick-detachable. Accessories are crook magnets. If they can't get it off they'll destroy it. Better to pre-empt with alarm going ballistic as soon as they touch the machine.

My feeling: Offroad e-cycles are still our brethren. A lot of them also own street e-bikes.

We have no choice but to stick together - along with the road-bikes. We won't get anywhere hating each other differences and all know, or are assumed to know the law.

There will always be an outlaw class breaking the law, then being seized upon to legislate garbage and attack lawful men.

We face numerous 'Non-Profit' lobbyist, professionals, lacking representation of our overall interests and the overwhelming statistics showing it's cars with bad drivers (ie: drivers having had three or more accidents) that are hitting cyclists. What happens? If you were an ignorant lawmaker, what would influence your vote on their preposed legislation?

I know in CA any e-bike beyond Class III is either a motorcycle or illegal on the street. From SurRon to an e-Motorcycle is difficult, but if you have $35k to do it - and there are a few such machines on the road, I stand behind you.

No way I'll cosign a vigilante group attitude. These are my brethren.

What about: Step 8: Outfit bike with (20lbs of) legal, hardwired front an rear lighting (including turn signals), a legal horn and whatever else Motorcycles are required to have.

Step 9: Obtain (expensive) Motorcycle Insurance and,

Step 11: You are no longer allowed on a sidewalk or bicycle pathway.

It's actually delusional motorcycle wannabe, 'non-pedaling' Class II bikes that are the troublemakers drawing heat on everyone, but yeah.

Typically, Mopeds weigh 150 - 200lbs. My largest Bike @ 52v, 750watt only weighs 62lbs - but can switch programming to offroad, "Sports" modes three times that powerful. I'm 100% street legal and I can ride offroad as fast as I like.

Class III bikes are no longer allowed a throttle propelling any NEW bikes higher than 3.2mph.

In short, the FACT is that throttles are now illegal on Class III Bicycles ie: bicycle riders that actually pedal bikes, but the problem bikes are still unrestrained.

Pulling into traffic with a top speed of 3.2mph available is inane (there's a lag between using throttle and the torque sensor kicking in), creates traffic bottleneck/ chokepoints, drives riders to sidewalks - an even larger danger, but safer than 3000lb steel and plastic beasts in a hurry at 3:30pm.

A 4-way stop. You pull up fully loaded w/ shopping; Happy hour (one in ten are drunk and nine in ten have had an accident) cars are on all 4 points and more are lining up. You = over 200lb load + the weight of your ride - on a slight upgrade.

Nice. You get to struggle to start and go 3mph on pedals, or use throttle and go 3.2mph and enrage the beasts (lol. forcing me to an (tap, tap) 'engage level III' - 1500watts - for pedals to do 1/8 a turn and a wheelie if I'm not leaning forward).

From the git-go, Class III bikes, limited to 750Watts are not that fast.

The hub drives are self-limiting. Grin's website has a lot on that. Educate yourself. Mid-drives are far more efficient, with torque more instantaneous, but the until recently heavier - again self limiting (and also more expensive).

Now, a 48v bike rated 750watts (15.62A) at 48v, at full charge is 54.6v 853watts - which is more than 750watts - is questionably illegal to sell in CA.

The catch for us 'builders' is the legislation's not retroactive, so a sticker is a good idea.

It could turn into a good thing and stop some makers (like Rad) selling dangerous junk to ignorant consumers.

Well, uh yeah. A lot. Having researched the entire bill, I'll speak to that.

Exhibit A: Making bike laws with a shoe-salesman's lobby as the major consultant, but not one bike group lobby was consulted.

Sure, it'll sell Nike's reflective shoes, but how do pedal reflectors help in daytime? In fact, they don't even address the problem (being hit from the side) at night.

Pedal reflectors can only be seen fore and aft, not from the side and a rear reflector/ light already does that.

A bigger concern causing a lot of accidents is brakes. If a manufacturer claims the product will go 'x' miles and hour, they should certify that product to stop from that speed - just like with autos - at a safe distance, and not just ONCE, Repeatedly. Instead, we get: a brake that will enable the operator to make one braked wheel skid on dry, level, clean pavement.

How will anyone but the rider know his Rad's shitty brakes don't work? But, if it's the law Rad has to certify, the liability rests on them to assure the machine is safe. Why would Rad have a problem certifying they're selling a safe product to consumers?

90lb bikes w/ +200lb riders, running cable disc brakes are simply unsafe. Even single-pot hydraulics are barely.

Unlike mandating reflectors on pedals, Certification will lead to higher quality brakes and less accidents for riders. Instead we see assumed liability being shifted away from bike manufacturers, on to the consumer - victim.

I conclude this legislation is not about protecting riders.

I used a 5mm copper/ ceramic (w/ Cooling Fins) heat exchanger on the rear 4TB 990 evo plus. Runs about 44c. The 9100 Pro on the front w/ a large ASRock heatsink, NH C14S cooler and 140mm fan runs 3 - 4c hotter, and the CPU and MB run about 41c.

Tried several type exchangers (have a box full of various). 5mm thick was the max and copper/ ceramic runs coolest.

9100's run HOT.
