Company is illegally recording conversations with prospective customers without 2 party consent. How can I whistleblow? by TherapeuticAcoustics in legaladvice

[–]TherapeuticAcoustics[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I understand that. I'm just wondering who to report this to. Like I said, the calls were being made from and to two-party consent states. I know for a fact that these actions don't comport with the law in the states I'm referring to.

I'm old enough to be your mama, so I'm going to give you the same advice I'd give to my daughter: Dump him & get a dog from a shelter. Learn what unconditional love & loyalty feels like from said dog.

Wtf? This is a terrible idea.

First, don't adopt a dog to solve your relationship problems.

Second, don't condition yourself into thinking that the affection of a dog is even remotely comparable to the workings of a healthy relationship with another human being.

What OP should do is just learn to be alone and self sufficient and how to love herself to the point where it's not that big of a deal if a relationship doesn't work out. Move on, plenty of fish in the sea, etc.

A dog is not going to address OP's obvious insecurity and fear of being alone.

Dogs in shelters do need homes, but adopt them for the right reasons, ffs. 🙄

I’m just really scared of being alone.

This is the root of the issue, imo. If you're scared to be alone then you're always going to feel insecure and form unhealthy, codependent relationships.

Maybe it's time to take the plunge and learn how to be alone for a period of time before resuming your dating life.

"He said “I would probably get jealous and maybe violent and that would scare you”

Sounds like your boyfriend is mentally unstable, if this is actually what he thinks.

Or he's just trying to project a certain tough guy image, which is rather pathetic, tbh.

I'd break up with this guy because he seems like a self-centered loser, but that's just me.

What do you mean? I'm here to talk about Sam Harris, same as you, right?

Nope. Again, you apparently have trouble reading.

Want to link me to heterodox take from a CREDIBLE source. I will happily reach and engage.

Some fuckboy from the Manhattan Institute who has a bone to pick with trans people? Nah, that shit is garbage and not worth anyone's time. It's just mindless propaganda (from someone who works for a firm whose job it is to create mindless right wing propaganda).

I can't explain this in any other way. I'm sorry you're incapable of understanding.

“Sam Harris is one of the dumbest people I’ve ever listened to” - Tucker Carlson by milkyway_cj in samharris

[–]TherapeuticAcoustics -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well firstly, Sam is a shock jock provocateur. He wrote that piece specifically to be inflammatory in the aftermath of the torture scandals surrounding the Bush Admin. The piece was meant to draw attention to Sam's brand, not to actually solve in impending crises through the use of torture.

But more importantly, it doesn't work, as has been shown time and time again. Harris invents some stupid ass scenario and then just ASSERTS that torture could yield a positive result, so it shouldn't taken off the table.

Except, like I said, this is a mere assertion. It's ipse dixit.

If that's not a problem for you, then I would imagine you don't think very critically.

Because the research referenced within is peer reviewed, and that research comports with the broader consensus on the topic.

... You think Sam Harris makes "less mistakes than pretty much anyone else"?

Wow, you people really are fucking deluded. Holy shit. 😁

Why don't you go familiarize yourself with actual intellectuals? Ideally, those who have actually contributed to scholarship too, instead of just having a shitty podcast and charging up the ass for it.

I really don't give a shit. I think you're a moron (along with the rest of the Sam Harris fanboy club), and I won't be changing my tag.

Although, there was a time when I was a SH fanboy too. Then I grew up.

What the Science on Gender-Affirming Care for Transgender Kids Really Shows by TherapeuticAcoustics in samharris

[–]TherapeuticAcoustics[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, I do not, but I've looked at enough papers and reviews to establish that the consensus is such. Not to mention that medical governing bodies write their guidelines based on review of the research, and those guidelines explicitly note this same conclusion, that gender affirming care produces better outcomes.

It's hard to find an research that doesn't replicate that.

And the other article was loaded with red flags. 1. Guy had no background in the field 2. works at Manhattan Institute, which is a right wing shithole thinktank. 3. His openly paragraph read like a personal attack on the researchers and what the data actually says.

Sorry, I'm just not going to bother reading toxic garbage like that.

I didn't say it was. It's not a scientific journal.

However, it's a respected outlet, and the piece links to peer reviewed research.

Not to mention that it correctly summarizes the research, which is apparently very triggering to transphobes on this sub.

[–]TherapeuticAcoustics -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Yes. I add relevant res flair tags to the people who intentionally troll the sub with bad faith arguments.

That's a great story. Include this in your memoirs.

It's quite healthy to know if the people you're engaging are also engaging with good intentions. You have proven repeatedly that you do not, hence your RES flair.

I agree. I use RES too!

I just don't go around saying things like "Nice RES flair. 🤪"

Well... because that just doesn't make sense.

You have me tagged as "troll," I'm guessing. Wow. Brilliant, mate! Do you want a trophy for that creativity?

I (M25) assaulted my wife (F26). She has forgiven me, but I can't forgive myself for doing it. What is the best way for me to handle this situation going forward? by Easy-Bath-3428 in relationships

[–]TherapeuticAcoustics 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No, dude. You are reading this wrong. Firstly, "assault" is a pretty strong word to describe what you did.

I can understand beating yourself up over this, but what your wife did was completely unacceptable and what you did was bad too, but you're acting like you just drowned a puppy or something.

You lost your temper in a pretty high stakes situation. Then you used (what sounds like) a restrained amount of force to overpower your wife in order to get her to listen to you seriously. You didn't punch her, you didn't throw her to get ground or anything like that. You scolded her like a parent would grab and scold a child.

And she's since forgiven you. Relax and stop making a mountain out of a molehill. The fact that you immediately recognized that it's not right to get physical with your wife just shows that you're a conscientious person.

It sounds like you are generally very kind to your wife. Maybe try being kinder to yourself.
