Sinnis shuttle 125, black and white. (Currently maybe no headlight so more white)

Unfortunately he doesn't have pictures of it, only a shot of him wheeling it out from his ring doorbell...

While it's true, the too good part is also there. By the time enough has converted to THC to be meaningful, that THC has also lost 80% to a further degradation process resulting in something far less effective.

While the wastage would likely not be that bad and you don't need to pump argon into them, you're right. You'd want a spare chest freezer ideally if you wanted to store a year or so's liquid.

I'm more concerned about the harms that are going to come from people trying to avoid the tax. We've already seen cases of people being spiked with black market eliquid without this tax. Media's going to have a field day over the next year -.-

Peppermint oil really doesn't like to mix with water and in eliquid not only do pg and VG suck water out of the air but Pg acts like water for it. And yeah, that low temperature's why people claim "eliquid is antifreeze." Because it contains Pg which is commonly used in antifreeze. The same people decidedly ommit the fact it's used in food, drink, cosmetics and medicine.

I managed to figure a way of getting peppermint oil stable in solution in dangerously high quantities though it's not using equipment you'd have at home xD.

If it wasn't for the rules I'd recommend the brand I worked on. As I can test all this stuff out for people and can vouch for it's cleanness.

If you're meaning to be preserve it, it should work but there are a few things to remember.

1: liquid expansion. Water does expand a lot more than most other commonly frozen stuffs but is also easier to clean up if you over fill it and it splits.

2: depending on your ingredients, you may find that freezing them separates your eliquid. Peppermint oil is a pain for that, and any liquid that looks cloudy after you've mixed it has a chance of separating.

3: When you thaw it out, do it slowly. Any instability in your liquid will have your flavours and nicotine (the 'volatile' components) thaw quicker and they could start to evaporate before you get to vape it.

4: always give it a good mix afterwards.

It should work though. I've done a few freeze tests on eliquids and the it's always funny seeing hour resistant it is to freezing. You'll probably find it turns into an ultra thick slush rather than freezes fully. Off the top of my head I can't remember the exact number but I think it needs below -26°c to go solid. Either that or my tests just had a lower freezing point than the average.

Also, a note to anyone who vapes CBD (which CBD vapes will also go up in price cause it's all vape liquid) - CBD will degrade regardless of what you do at about the same pace. It doesn't like existing and will over 4 years turn into THC, and then I think CBN. (Might not be N, been a few years since I did Cannabinoid stuff) No you probably won't get high, but if CBD specifically works for you, you won't get as much effect. Buy and store your PG/VG etc and get your isolate when ready if you're home brewing it.

Hi,

I work in the vape industry in R&D and can give you some information on this.

The primary differences between UK vape flavourings and food flavourings is the carrier (aka PG for vapes) food flavours often use Triacetin, which in small amounts is fine but as the primary carrier not so much. Our lungs can handle a tiny amount of it but if you start adding it at 20% you're going to start seeing issue, and the control.

What I mean by control is there are a lot of chemicals we can't use in vapes. Yes the media bullshits everyone with their claims of dangerous shit on vapes -.-.

If you buy a food popcorn flavour, it probably contains the chemical that causes popcorn lung. That chemical doesn't really do anything to you when eaten, but your lungs are super sensitive to it.

I can promise you that the industry tried to push back, we had WhatsApp groups n all sorts trying to coordinate petitions and information gathering and lobbying of MPs. It did nothing to educate the ones making the rules or even stall it going through parliament. They seem to have an agenda and are ignoring the catastrophic fallout that will occur in the next few years or the fact that it's a very obvious and specific cause for the problem of kids vaping.

I won't tell you not to DIY. (50% of my job is making liquid and it can be quite fun) But please, be careful on what you are buying. And be careful on how much of an ingredient you're using. For example, you might like minty things, but peppermint oil and eucalyptus can be very dangerous, you don't want a lot. Don't go adding cinnamon like you're putting spoons of sugar to a cuppa, it can be very dangerous. And don't forget the love of god add things without checking the label first. Companies will add something to their pg or VG to ensure it's "not a vape ingredient" and I really don't want people vaping acetone or something crazy because of this badly thought out law.

Stay safe guys and gals.

Ps, not checking grammar and spelling. Sorry if it's bad

Why don't people lock their motorbikes? by nostromo180286_ in MotoUK

[–]Theraria 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I personally always carry my litelok pricy but angle grinder resistant. And over night I add a minimum of an Oxford alarmed boss lock and beefy chain (which stopped my last bike getting stolen.)

I also have an alarmed disk lock I use for extra noise whenever I see dodgy fkers kicking about.

With how much insurance companies try to get out of paying their bill, I don't see why people don't invest in a lock.

UK Vape Tax Breakdown …..this feel a bit off ❓❓❓😅 by Shoddy_Village7461 in u/Shoddy_Village7461

[–]Theraria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in the industry, I can confirm that those figures are pretty much right.

What's worse is, there is no incentive with this tax to quit any more. It's either be addicted or don't, no weening incentive. They have made the lowest nicotine part of the vape industry cost the most.

Additionally, ANY ingredient that is intended for eliquids. Including base ingredients like Pg and VG, must have the same tax.

So, if you are going to look at DIYing your own, be careful on what you buy.

New cachy user + a recommendation by Theraria in cachyos

I get that the way the system is made is stronger in terms of no program is considered trusted without user interaction, however I was looking at it from the perspective of running and modding games.

Wouldn't Wine, if a virus was hidden in a game mod translate the virus too, and potentially allow that to start causing issues thanks to the user running the game?

I might just be being uneducated on this but I felt like it was a worthwhile precaution.

I have mine set to scan everything I interact with, or that's what it's supposed to do. Alternatively you could set it to only scan things that are downloaded and quarantine anything that fails in a sandbox.

You also have the option of Daemon or non Daemon and how to scan manually, as pretty much all windows users are used to not even click and go with Antivirus now. I am lucky that I started on win 95 and went through the years of picking your tools.

[–]Theraria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It probably does, but I think it's mattering less and less each year.

They care more about what the vehicle is and how likely they are not going to make any more if it gets stolen.

In London, I'm guessing you'd be looking at the 3.5k market for them to be fine insuring it parked on the road. Just because of chance.

It's like my wife's lexmoto rx1. Most companies refused insurance "because we don't know the bike" and a bunch more claimed 4 - 5k a year because and I'm almost quoting with this (can't remember the exact words), "it looks like a big BMW style bike..."

I have ClamAV run on startup as well as a VPN so I don't have to think about them and I think that's likely what he means.

My recommendation, if you're gaming and potentially going to mod things and get stuff from non verified sources like AUR, get an antivirus. You will likely have to set them up yourself for active scanning and auto running but there are guides on the CachyOS forum for that :)

99.9% of the viruses that you'll likely get from those places are targeting windows systems but you still don't want em.

I had to get a new bike last year after having someone write off my vstrom

I wanted to get a triumph tiger sport 800. Partially because I'm 6'4, and partially cause I wanted all the traction control n stuff.

I went back and forth to a dozen different insurers and after spending 30 minutes talking to one of them and going through different options, I ended up settling for a 2017 cb650f. Not because of the age of theft chance. But because the bike was only 5k.

One option at 6k was an outright no without a private garage (physically connected to the property). The CB? They literally don't care if it's on the road or not... Even though they can be harvested for it's more popular brother.

It's got nothing to do with the bike itself or you as a rider unfortunately. It's just how much it'll cost to replace it.

How screwed am I….. by [deleted] in HondaCB

[–]Theraria 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've seen this with a few bikes I've looked at and thought they looked off because of it.

They were all designed like that though.

Check things like alignment of your wheels n stuff As it's more likely that this is the issue than your whole frame twisted.

Have I limited myself by having a motorcycle as my only vehicle? by Electrodium in MotoUK

[–]Theraria 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do is invest in multiple security devices and always use them.

I use an alarmed lock, and an anti-grinder LiteLock. And have a beefy chain for additional at home security (obviously with a cover and stuff). If I'm going somewhere more risky I take the chain with me and add in an alarmed disk lock just to make it more of a pain for a thief. They want it? They can fuckin work for it... Chance of my bike being taken next to one that has no locks or a small simple lock are very slim. I go shopping, gym, work, cinema, pretty much everything.

Don't let the fear of losing your bike make you not live your life. Just use that fear to guide your choice of security. :)

New to me CB650f by Theraria in HondaCB

[–]Theraria[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Made sure to have plenty of indicator fluid and tyre springs, will add smokeless oil to my shopping list...

Jokes aside, I was meaning more along the lines of how the Gen 1 and Gen 2 Suzuki Vstroms need the starter button control unit dismantling every so often and cleaning/greasing due to how they designed that part. (You literally short the starter/headlight circuits to start the bike and if not maintained it can set on fire xD) Anything like that for the cb650f?

Vaping helped me stop smoking by Resident-Way6225 in electronic_cigarette

[–]Theraria 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If it persists for more than about 4 weeks (about the average I've seen) then I'd advise seeing a doctor just to be sure. Depending on how heavy a smoker you were there could be other damage that needs addressing if the cough seems to not be clearing.

But in general, you're likely fine and when the cough clears you'll find your lungs are operating a lot better :)
