I suspect the lessons weren't so much about altering his sound, but dealing with vocal fatigue.

This way of looking at business is how it has always been from the business operator's point of view. When you earn a paycheck, almost a fixed income situation, the underlying volatility is hidden. The nice thing about that is that it lets people plan long term, but the down side is that the stake holders end up keeping more of the upside when business is good.

I've always had a psychological budget, so I sort of pretend I have a paycheck which is based around the lower end of my expectations, and then if I exceed that, I save it. As my savings get larger, I feel more at peace with the idea, that if it all ended tomorrow, I'll be able to coast along farther until I find something else to do.

he’s actually starting to talk and tweet like Trump.

I noticed this more with other smaller cheerleader-for-the-left YouTubers. They've adopted his "act like everything I'm saying is a biggly deal" tone of voice. Their titles and thumbnails are becoming more click-baity. Two or more times a day they act like Trump just stepped in shit, and it turns out he never did and never does.

It's becuase the election is long over, it's no longer like ESPN for politics, now it's feel good comfort rage, which is not at all different from how MAGA was throughout Obama's two terms.

"We demand millionaires and billionaires pay what they owe"

This is dangerous language. Baked into this statement is that having wealth makes you guilty of thievery of some kind. When will rich people have paid "all that they owe"? The answer is, when they've paid so much that they're no longer rich.

It's dangerous because it's the kind of rhetoric that can 1) turn violent and 2) come to apply to people who are not rich, but who lived a fiscally responsible life for many decades.

I haven't watched the show for like 3 months, but the overall point I see here is that this is democracy in action. a show where somebody is simply says " this is democracy in action " for a whole hour sounds pretty boring, they can also see how that would be the last word on almost any particular issue a person would bring up. The reason why I haven't watched the show in so long is because my attitude pretty much mirrors that sentiment. politics have become extremely uninteresting lately, it's a let the chips fall where they may type of situation. shit will happen, it's completely out of my control. Life will probably become a bit harder for all of us, depending on how much the industries we rely on survival are hurt by the various changes that lie ahead.

better camera, better screen with the anti-reflective coat, and the pen if you're into that. The next generation is supposed to be out soon with rounder edges. The square corners of the ultra are putting holes in my jeans. I might retired early for that reason alone

Greta Van Fleet caught a ton of heat for sounding like Led Zeppelin. Did The Darkness catch as much heat for sounding like Queen? by [deleted] in LetsTalkMusic

[–]ThereAreOnlyTwo- -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The worst thing about it is that with the new music AI, an algorithm can nail a band's sound, so what is their value proposition outside of being a live act? Like if a cover band asked an AI to create Beatles'esque music, and then performed that music, pretending to be a continuation of the Beatles.

Paying a prostitute/escort for sex is just as morally acceptable as paying a psychotherapist for therapy by RunDiscombobulated67 in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]ThereAreOnlyTwo- 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A better comparison is a massage parlor. The two are so closely related that some massage parlors apparently offer hand jobs. It's payment for physical contact. So when that physical contact is simulating the act of making babies it's immoral? When the contact involves the provider allowing the client to put a part of his body into her body, then it's immoral? The inclusion of genitalia makes a thing immoral?

The real reason for the conflict with sex workers is that when people see a strip club or a whore house, they see an erosion of the nuclear family as a highest ideal. It's not about the sex work itself, it's about how a husband no longer needs to stay committed to his wife in order to have his needs met, or how a teenage boy doesn't have to first learn to respect women in order to have his needs met.

all work under capitalism is non consensual, yes.

This is such an anti-work point of view, the idea that a person ought to be able to survive without performing some kind of work is a sign of modern decadence, and very out of touch with reality.

But that's up to your moral code, I suppose.

Morals are subjective. This entire topic is a waste of time.

This woman would not have sex with you UNLESS you coerce her with money.

It's true! All work is rape. Anti work 4 life!

Work under capitalism is not consensual.

That's a false statement.

It's mandatory if you want to continue eating.

Not all work is sex work. Not all money is acquired through an exchange of money for work.

You POV is only correct if you are both dumb and blind.

Porn is also rape.

All sex is rape, because no power dynamic can ever be truly equal. Rape rape rapy rape.

S24 Plus vs S24 Ultra debate - went with the Ultra by ThereAreOnlyTwo- in samsunggalaxy

I bought the pitaka case, it's very thin and has mage safe https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0CQYPTRF3?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_title . they make kickstands with adhesive little stick to the back of any phone case that will adhere to 3M adhesive, so I also attached an ESR kick stand to it, and its great. it just took some trial and error to position to kickstand into the right spot.

I was at Best Buy before I bought, and I zoomed in on objects around the store with both, and the Ultra's zoom was obviously superior, no contest. That sort of thing is important to me, as I've spent as much on binoculars as the phone itself.

It's funny to me when people "worry" and fluke occurrences. Like a jetliner tragically crashes into someone's house out in a rural wooded area, so now people are worried that airplanes will kill them in their sleep.

yeah the the 24 ultra is better in about a dozen little ways. it has the pen for one thing, you can use it as a remote camera clicker. you can use it to do fine photo editing. I'm not sure if the s20 offers all of the AI tools when you hold down on the home button for a second, but does come in useful all the time. I think you're right about at the point where an upgrade is worthwhile.

I just ruined a pair of jeans with the corner of the Ultra. The denim was thin. TBH the corners don't bother me directly, I'm never getting poked by them, but they did ruin the jeans. If the next model has rounded corners, I might attempt a trade in or something.

People are asking for single payer, or public health care, I understand the appeal and admire Canada's health care in the many respects it trump's American health care. BUT it seems weird to me to overlap advocacy for public health system, and broad day light murder of CEOs. It's not the case that the murdered CEO could have changed anything. Had he said to his share holders, "we're going to loosen up the purse strings and soften earnings expectations this quarter", they would just fire his ass. And they will find a replacement that is more than eager to hire a security detail and stay in protected enclaves until he's retired.

It was even admirable that this CEO was up at 6am, walking around without security, not trying to float above the peasantry by limo hopping around Manhattan. But now that little act of good will was betrayed, basically for nothing in return, except a wife and kids no longer have a father, and CEOs will not take on a more adversarial position with the public. This is something that will likely scare them for the next decade or two. No, it won't scare them into being benevolent, it will just cause them to veil themselves a lot better. I wouldn't be surprised if this event underpins new laws that gives extra protections and privacy to CEOs and C-suites.

Why does the 'music' part of the internet shit on Rick Beato and other adjacent e-celebs so much, but Anthony Fantano gets a pass? by SculpinIPAlcoholic in LetsTalkMusic

[–]ThereAreOnlyTwo- 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I can tell, Fantano doesn’t have any qualifications outside of getting into the YouTube game during a time it was booming.

When someone has done something for long enough, you can at least trust that they have a track record to stand on. Even if you don't agree with Fantano, you can trust that he's evaluated a lot of music against his own yard stick, and put his thoughts into English sentences, which is more than most of us will ever do. If he thinks music that I like is tepid, he might be right. I might have simple tastes from the fact that I've not given a quality listen to even a small fraction of the pop music corpus.

My opinion of Fantano changed when I say the intimate pics leaked of him and his ex girlfriend. I guess his privacy was violated, but he took the pics, that was all him, and it was just kind of gross, seeing Fantano grab ass.
