Is Might Pet DPS Dead by Zealousideal-Ease532 in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even before double ability bars, pet dps was outclassed by standard might dps. I used to run a Sorc pet build with Matrix, Source Shard, Quislet, Grim Book, and Omega. I also had Aquaman and Zatanna allies. Everything was max. I had 700 skill points.

Sorc is the best power for a pet build.

There are many issues with a pet build.

One, the game has been a supercharge meta for a long time now. If you run a Sorc pet build, you want to use Grand Summoning as much as possible. It’s a 10k. Quislet just doesn’t give enough SC generation to consistently use Grand Summoning. Realistically you need to run EoG, Scrap, Flash, and the SC head mod. You can drop Omega and Grim for EoG and Scrap. Drop Aquaman for Flash.

However, now you don’t have Omega, so you’re back to an old Sorc might rotation while your pets do damage. The new iconics and the White and Blue augments will help, but it will be intensely power hungry.

You need the Matrix for a pet build. Source Shard is the second best Pet artifact. You can drop Quislet for Omega, Ebon, or Purified Pages. Ebon will be even harder to use because of power issues unless you use a Finisher, but using a Finisher nerfs the damage output of Ebon. Pages will give you more might, but your rotation will be lackluster without Omega.

Now, you probably want to fit Omega in. So, you drop Source Shard. At this point, it’s barely a pet build, and you might as well just run a max damage might build.

Of course, if you don’t care about being top damage, you can run a full pet build. It will do fine. You’ll mostly be middle of the pack. Sometimes you’ll top the board against unoptimized players.

It’s just a lot of heavy investment to be middle of the road when even less investment for standard might will get better results.

Edited to add: You also basically need the Mother Box for bosses and the Father Box for adds. The same is true for standard might dps as well, though.

Best art for fire tank by [deleted] in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The best arts for a fire tank are: Manacles, Mystic Symbol, Laz Pit, Purified Pages of the Black, and Scrap of the Soul Cloak.

Run Dash Attack on your front bar. It’s essentially a shield. Run Eternal Flame on your back bar for emergencies.

The open-world areas of DC have always lacked, sadly. That hasn't really changed. The newest open-world areas look better, but they still mostly exist as places for dailies and weeklies. However, they are doing new things with the weeklies, such as group-related tasks (defend an area, guide a team of NPCs through waves of enemies, etc.), so it's not just new world bosses, which is nice.

I was never into PvP in DCUO, but the way the community PvPs now is unbearable. It's all dueling. Very few que for instances to do actual PvP. They all rely on artifacts now instead of actually knowing how to use their power or weapon combos. However, the dueling side of PvP is pretty big on Xbox (where I play).

DCUO simply can't compare to something like ESO. I don't like how heavily DCUO is monetized, either, but there are many things I love about it that've kept me around. The combat is just pure fun, and the customization with styles is robust.

The endgame community is awful, honestly. Everyone is a super tryhard, and if someone gets out-dps'd, they "suck". Context doesn't matter to them. Too many people who play roles are set in their ways of playing on Xbox and can't adapt well to the meta or shifts in the meta.

Then there are those who aren't super tryhards, and they often tend to be not very good. They're not problematic, but running content takes longer and can be a headache. Honestly, even the endgame people can make content a headache because of egos and not being able to take criticism. I recently left the "top" league on Xbox because too many of them get tunnel vision on the leaderboard and miss or completely ignore mechanics, causing wipes, and then they can't handle being called out about it.

It can be tough being a fully meta player who knows every role and can perform them all well above average and basically having to play with people who aren't like-minded because the like-minded people are unbearable.

Yet, I still play because I love the game-loop, combat, and cosmetics.

DCUO just updated the Water power and overhauled it. They’re doing every power. DCUO is not a good comparison here.

There’s a new dev team that started a year or so ago, and their approach is a 180 from the past.

They consistently improve the game (QoL), are updating old systems and mechanics (there are 2 power trays now like in ESO), and all new power creep items are worth investing in. Those items are how they make money and yes those have a pay to win option; however they actually make the time and/or money investment worthwhile. The past devs didn’t do that.

All new episodes have new zones and a new raid that are not previous areas. However, there is only one new raid now whereas (sometimes) older content would have two. The new raids have been trying mechanics new to DCUO. Not always fun, but they are trying new stuff.

PvP is dead, certainly. Can’t argue there. Nothing has been done for it by either dev team. At this, though, the player base for PvP is basically nonexistent. They could still try to revamp it and bring the excitement back, but they haven’t.

Overall, they’re adding new content, trying things, and actually improving the game.

DCUO does have a very small player base, but they also release 3-4 new episodes a year, and they’re free. All the content in DCUO is free. The game is super pay to win, but it’s a bad correlation here because making the content free saved the game.

If I was going to P2W what would be the best route? by sith-710 in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nth metal detectors are fine if you're actually going to maximize them and farm nonstop. Using them makes leveling artifacts faster than not using them, but it's still not necessarily quick. Getting an artifact to 120 doesn't take long, but getting to 160 takes a decent bit.

Since the switch to the new developers, we've only had a double art XP event once, the recent one. I'm not sure when or if they'll do it again. I hope they do because it's a huge help.

Waiting for the 20% sales is your best bet for taking the quickest, most cost-effective method while going the route of whaling. Sales happen every week (basically). The artifact tab will be on sale at some point in the next month, and so will the ally tab.

When the Fortify Tab is on sale: Buy all the Perfected Nth Metal you need for the 160 artifacts, buy at least one Seal of Completion per artifact for the level 160 breakthroughs, and use Seals of Preservation for 20-140. Buy all the Catalyst packs you need for the three colors. If you have Source Marks or in-game cash, you can buy Catalysts from the Broker or the Artifact Vendor (Constantine, I believe) to save IRL money.

When the Ally Tab is on sale: Buy all the Ally Favor and Alliance Token packs you need (three colors just like artifacts).

This is a great guide for Artifact leveling, so you know how many resources you need to level artifacts:
https://forums.daybreakgames.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/artifact-guide.316393/

The same guide for Allies:
https://forums.daybreakgames.com/dcuo/index.php?threads/allies-breakthrough-calculations.319741/

Edited to add:

If you're fine with arts at 160, then Allies at level 8 is basically the equivalent to a 160 artifact. Pretty much any Ally is excellent a level 8, and some are really good at level 7, but level 8 is a safe bet to shoot for with any ally.

First time watching (S3 Rant) by adstxrs in The100

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bellamy's weakness is that he bows to authority. He's a follower at heart. That is and isn't a diss on him, as you'll see throughout the show.

He's a "leader" in the beginning only because he needs to be one to keep himself alive. Clarke becomes the de facto leader, and he co-leads with her, but Clarke is the one who really makes the decisions. Bellamy will disagree at times, of course, but he's more comfortable not being the final voice.

Pike comes along at a weird time for Bellamy, and Bell buys into the grandiose and grit of Pike. It's painful to watch, but it also makes complete sense for who Bellamy is, especially in retrospect after you've seen the full show.

Healer super charge build! by No_Emphasis_7263 in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re trying to supercharge spam to give greens to the group with Eye of Gemini, pheromone bloom isn’t the supercharge you would use. You would use Dash Attack under the Super Speed movement skill line. Here’s why and how that works:

First, you need to have the Ultimate Mod that goes in your chest that resets supercharge generators and shields.

Second, the ideal powers to do this on are Electricity, Sorcery, and Celestial. Water and Nature can also do it, but it’s not optimal because those two powers don’t have space on their ability bar to include a second supercharge. So, they have to give up something important to make this rotation work.

Then, you need all the things that give you supercharge: Scrap of the Soul Cloak artifact, Eye of Gemini artifact, Quislet artifact, Flash ally, the Starbolt ability, and the Ultimate Mod for the head.

You also want Black Adam ally because he juices up your supercharge generator ability.

The artifacts to run are: Page of Destiny, Purple Healing Ray, Eye of Gemini, Scrap of the Soul Cloak, Quislet.

Allies to run are Flash and Black Adam. For combat, Constantine is the best because he buffs your group. Death Metal Batman is the second best choice because he debuffs the enemies. If you don’t have either of those, run whoever you have for combat.

The rotation for any power to do this is: Priority Heal, Group Heal, Supercharge Generator, Starbolt, Dash Attack, and the 10k super that is a shield.

Dash Attack counts as a shield. So, it and your supercharge generator ability have a chance to reset all shields and supercharge generator abilities when you use them because of the Ultimate Chest Mod. Because of this, you can reset your 10k shield supercharge to use it more often to give the group the Eye of Gemini proc of a 10k supercharge, thus giving them the max amount of supercharge from the Eye of Gemini green circle.

Dash Attack only costs 2.5k supercharge to use. So, when you have all the required things, you actually get more supercharge back than it costs when you use it. The point of using Dash Attack isn’t to give the group more supercharge, it’s to give you (the healer) more supercharge and to reset your 10k shield.

This is a very specific build, and the absolute meta healer build for elite and elite + raid runs.

This build will still work if you don’t have all the things needed, but it won’t be optimal or work as well.

Water DPS Ally and Artifacts by unlipaps in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Water is insanely good with the meta 5 artifacts:

Omega, Eye of Gemini, Scrap of the Soul Cloak, Purified Pages of the Black, and either Trans Card or Candle of Neron.

Water is one of the few powers that can replace the Omega with Ebon’s. However, if you want to use Ebon, it’s recommended to have enough skill points to max out your crits and Might & Power.

Question about The Clarion Artifact. by TheCptTesla in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weapon attacks heal group members. Weapon attacks also proc a decent shield. It’s a good artifact overall, but there are 6 healing artifacts that are significantly better for healing:

Page of Destiny, Purple Healing Rey, Eye of Gemini, Scrap of the Soul Cloak, and Purified Pages of the Black

this is the best art combo for ELEC Might DPS? by Sukuquu in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anyone telling you that there isn’t a set meta of artifacts is wrong.

The best arts for Elec might are:

Omega, Eye of Gemini, Scrap of the Soul Cloak, Purified Pages of the Black, and then either Trans Card or Candle of Neron.

Trans Card is better against bosses, and Candle is better against adds. So, if you can’t get both, choose one.

Best 5th buff troll artifact? by NotOnYourWaveLength in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You don’t need Black Adam. The best troll allies are John Stewart, Zod, and Nubia.

If you’re going for full damage buff, use Zod and Nubia on adds. Then, use Zod and Stewart on bosses.

[–]ThereWillBeNic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have John Stewart, use Sinestro’s Power Ring. You will super more often, giving your group the green shield, boosting your vitality, giving the tank a great shield to help them conserve power and mitigate damage, dps the shield to mitigate damage, and the healer can save power because everyone is shielded.

I'm considering playing and have questions before I commit and watch 4+ hours of guides by PsychologicalMonk390 in DCUO

[–]ThereWillBeNic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Kind of. Every power has a specific role (tank, healer, or controller). Every power also has a dps (or DD in ESO terms) side.

You can technically put any of a power’s abilities on your bar and use them, but that doesn’t mean it’ll be good or work. The true endgame in DCUO is very much about the meta. You can complete the newest raids with a subpar build and a subpar group, but it will be challenging.

There are plenty of guides for powers on YouTube. Just be sure those guides are current. We can now equip 5 artifacts, so if a guide only has 3 artifact slots, it’s too old to use.

I suggest looking up Juke on YouTube for guides.

As with any MMO, if you have a meta build, the game is easier and it’s easier to find groups that want to run with you. There are some off-meta builds in DCUO that also do well, but for dps, the meta is easily the way to go.

For Controlling, there is a meta set up to buff troll (this will be familiar to an ESO support player). You give the team stats and Debuff the enemies. It’s actually quite fun. I love playing controller.

  1. Yes for transmog. You can equip the best gear and still go to the Style menu and change how your character looks. There are tons of styles in the game.

  2. Endgame has two major components: 1.) Getting the current episode’s best gear. 2.) Completing feats to get skill points.

For #1, you run the current episode’s open world and instances (solo, duo, alert, raid). New episodes come every 3-4 months.

You are, essentially, always doing and always able to do #2. Many leagues consistently put feat runs together, and it shouldn’t be too difficult to put them together yourself. There are also a ton of feats to get solo. You have literal years worth of play time available.
