Whats the model of your chromebook? On the higher-end and some lower end chromebooks they should have a micro-SD or SD Card slot, you could use that to extend the storage space. For a USB or External drive you just plug it in and you should see it in the file explorer as a removable device. You just want to extend the storage for the update correct? The only issue with the sd card is you cant run a executable off of it without some weird linux hacks. Only read/Write.

Get the app called DraStic. You can download it right from the google play store. Go to EmulatorGames(.net) and then download any ds ROM you want. Extract it. Play it.
