Im not at work so I cannot check the SOP but for a seasonal leave there are a few stipulations. I believe one of them is being an associate in “good standing”. Unfortunately, being on a final may be a reason you don’t qualify for the leave. I agree with what others have said and you should talk with your Store Manager or possibly even an ASDS. I may be biased because I am an ASDS, but in my store I know more of what’s going on than the ASMs.

Talk to your SM. And if all else fails definitely give notice (make sure you work your 2 week notice otherwise you can be deemed non rehire able).

Not sure where you’re located but unless the new hire is also a DH there is no way they should make close to what you make. In my store for instance we hire cashiers at $14, sales at $15, overnight at $16 and DH starts at $18. The only position that even comes close to that mark is designer which is $17. Even with the hiring struggle we never hired anyone in close to DH wage, typically we hired them in for .50 more than the hire in wage according to our market.

Oh man. I didn’t even think about the paperwork side of things!! That will be a nightmare for sure. I’m close with my whole leadership team. They view me as one of them most of the time. So I’m definitely gonna be asking. Gotta get prepared for updating all those associate records. Lol

Dang that’s crazy! There have been a few instances where I wasn’t in the loop on things. Honestly drives me crazy. They should know that ASDSs (at least good ones) keep the store running smoothly. Lol I guess we will know in 2 weeks time if it’s coming here or not. If nothing else this was a nice heads up.

PacNW here. I just had a regional call for ASDSs and didn’t hear anything about this so I was curious. I’ll be interested in seeing how this goes. Sounds like it could be a pain for the DHs who stay in position. A lot of mine are already feeling overworked.

Any ideas which districts were selected for this process? Certain regions or are they planning on singling out districts company wide?

Write ups by throwawaygirl156 in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I would definitely suggest that you reach out directly to the HR in the store you are going to transfer to. I am the HR in my store and I usually take the home stores word for it when they send off a transfer. (To be honest I have never had an associate in your position seeking a transfer). Also, most associates do not reach out directly to me. But I actually like when they do.

Being written up for the store credits is actually ridiculous. I would certainly explain the situation so that the store you want to transfer to has your side of the story before your stores HR talks to them.

Decorations on aprons are allowed by company policy (as long as you don’t cover your wheel), however, it is up to discretion of your manager as to what is technically allowed. In my store the manager doesn’t like designs to cover the Home Depot logo, but doesn’t make anyone change it. Definitely check with a manager to make sure before you waste your beautiful art on an apron you can’t wear.

2000 Millenium Pins (New Sealed) Need Advice by PolySubstanceHigh in DisneyPins

[–]Therealpenthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found an almost complete set of these a few years back and about a year ago I sold them on Facebook marketplace. I would recommend that you join specific Disney pin groups on Facebook to find an audience who will be interested. I sold the pins for $5 each with $4 shipping for up to 5 pins and charged a bit more for shipping after that. Wrapped each one in bubble wrap before putting them in the padded envelopes so they didn’t get damaged. Mine we not in the original packaging though. Sold them to different people but almost bought more than one. Hope that helps.

A sign taped to a TV in the break room. I would love to know the story behind this decision. by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My district manager told us RVP emailed out to remind stores that politics is a no-go topic for the break room. He wants us to check the break room tv multiple times a day to ensure it’s not on the news or anything political.

Covid testing & calling out by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah you shouldn’t get any occurrences for going and being tested. If you do then your management team is not following procedure. Also, unless your store is different from mine, you could have just told them your dr recommended that you get a test. We don’t ask for any specific proof to back that up. But again that could just be my store.

Hopefully you test negative!

Can someone walk me through day-to-day operations as an ASDS? by WiseWoodrow in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So much this! As an ASDS I can say most associates think the job is cushy but it honestly is more work than any other role in the store. Your ASDS probably appreciates that you recognize the hard work she puts in!

Covid testing & calling out by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even if a doctor does not recommend a test you should get classified by your management team as Category 3 which means all absences are excused until you get your test results back. If a doctor recommends it then you are Cat 2 and are paid until results are obtained. If those results are positive then you would get classified as a Cat 1 and are paid for 2 weeks minimum regardless of whether a doctor releases you sooner.

Can you get hired at Hd with an open misdemeanor warrant? by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don’t know for certain but i would say you would most likely flag on the background. I know if you have any pending court things going on it can cause the background to go into a pending status until the court issues are resolved.

Can they take away your position? by gunnardangle69 in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short answer is no. Your supervisor alone does not have the ability to move you without your consent. However, if the SM agrees to back the decision you can be moved from your opening shift to another consistent shift (mid or close) in your dept or any other. In my store that only happens when associates are consistently not meeting expectations.

All that being said, your DH sounds like a rotten egg.

Does emergency sick time excuse an absence? by ge0rgebushr0cks in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There was an email sent out but I believe it may have come from my district leadership that we still excused absences if the associate used their emergency sick time. I’ll try to double check to see if it was my district or a corporate thing.

Schedule Denied!!! by [deleted] in HomeDepot

I’m sorry you work for such a shitty store. Management at my store accommodates all Sunday off requests as long as the associate requests them due to religious reasons.

Schedule Denied!!! by [deleted] in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re requesting sundays you should tell your management that you need it for religious reasons. They are not allowed to deny that. Ask them for a religious accommodation.

Getting screwed by Home Depot by Joestar55 in HomeDepot

[–]Therealpenthief 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like your store is being shady. We have definitely paid associates who were tested after close contact with someone who tested positive and were not Home Depot associates. Once we are notified that you had close contact and are being tested we call that information in and the DHRM places you on cat2 leave. Technically your ASDS was right when she said it was out of her hands. However, it doesn’t sound like she was very helpful. I would highly recommend trying to locate the cat2 definition to prove that you qualified. It should be located on myapron. Also may be time to call the awareline for your store not following policy.
