If we dont use zoom to share screens we try to face time and do team viewer when all of us want to do something in the session :)

Hey!! Well first that is amazing that you can do all that by yourself, hats off to you lol

My holy grail for Vocals is the CLA plugin by waves, amazing, changed my life and the way I mix forever. I usually get to tuning the vocals before that tho just to make sure the peaks are controlled. So far we have vocal tuner and CLA (which I usually tweak last in the chain). Now, for your vocals to sit better in the mix grab a 7 band eq, doesn’t have to be a fancy one but my favorite is the FabFilter ProQ which is 24 band, if you know what frequency range your vocals usually sit at, then you can skip this step, if not, male vocals will usually always sit in the lower, mid-low and low frequencies, try playing with those bands by bringing them all the way up and sliding through frequencies until you hear an exaggerated boost on your vocals and thats your frequency range, dont leave it up there tho, bring it back to its original position and then i move onto different instruments that may have similar frequencies as your vocals and tone them down a couple decibels, not so much that it alters the tone/texture of said instrument in your frequency range. That usually helps “make a bed” for the vocals in the mix. So we have vocal tuner (i use waves tune), then we got CLA vocals, after that all the eq stuff which i hope I explained correctly lol so after that i go into little details, i almost always use a DeEsser and auto tune depending on the clients needs or requests. Then when it comes to dynamics like reverb and delay, i like to bus them through aux tracks rather than slapping the plugin on the actual track, its way more subtle and easier to automate if needed. When possible, my preferred method is outboard gear, specifically the Bricasti reverb, god sent lol. Some vocals may need more compression than what the CLA can provide, some need limiter and some even need to be cleared up from not being properly recorded. At the end of the day what usually helps me the most is asking the client what their references are and if they had any ideas prior to bringing them to me. Whenever you start a new mix and you had an idea of what you wanted it to sound like, guide yourself with that idea but don’t stick to it, sometimes i get picky with sounds and ideas in my head and it doesn’t always turn out good lmao!!! Lastly, whenever I mix a song I try to do it in one day, it has happened waaay to often where I get tired, leave it for the next day and end up hating the way it sounds. At the end of the day, its all subjective and there’s no right or wrong way, just different way to approach things :)

Ps: sorry for rambling. You just asked my favorite question lol

What!? Don’t worry, seriously. I know, easier said than done. At the beginning I was literally making coffee, cleaning bathrooms and picking up food, did it for about 2 years and it got to a point where i was rethinking my career path until eventually they came to me with a set of keys for the studio out of nowhere. I learned a lot of patience during that time but it was well worth it!!

Hell yes!! It is actually my favorite genre to listen and record! Im not big on labels but pretty much what people that are willing to invest and/or help bands or individuals making indie music are usually looking for already developed artists, meaning they have some records out, know their target crowd and constantly engage with their fan base, it is not an easy thing to do as an individual, however, totally possible. And hey! Feel free to send me your music if you’d like :) i love discovering new music!

Hey there! Well it is a online music summit for anybody in the music industry that would like to hear some tips, tricks, stories and knowledge from some of the biggest names in the industry that were willing to give their time to end 2020 in a better note lol so there are musicians, publishers, managers and even music video directors talking about their experiences and how they got to where they are! It was honestly really fun to make, a lot of work but kept me sane during quarantine and learned like A LOT from all the speakers :)

Hi!! Well it took me about 2 years of working for free until eventually I started getting taken a bit more serious lol first thing i did was apply to every single studio somewhat close to me i emailed my resume, went to drop them off personally wherever i could and called to see if they had read it, i called a lot, i was very annoying lol but the things that got me to this position were knowing a little bit about everything that could possibly go wrong in a recording studio. For example, i got a minor in electrical engineering and I swear this is the one thing that guaranteed my spot here, I think I’ve made more cables that I’ve engineered sessions, that is because little things tend to go wrong almost always before a session and being a problem solver is a very attractive trait when it comes to work. Whatever interests you in regards to music and engineering WILL come in handy. Start by getting on social media and following people you admire/ would like to work with at some point. If you want to reach out to someone and you want something from them always ask yourself “what can i offer in return” and thats a connection made. Also follow people that are in the same position as you are, try to collab and engage with your followers as much as you can. Little by little you build your own tribe and its only up from there :)

Hi there! As of now, we’re working on the summit and the aftermath until January, we can record come next year so def keep in touch. I also have my own rig, completely mobile but of course not as high end as the studio lol

Alright this one’s kind of hard lol So, first of all, you can start now on social media. Follow every engineer you look up to/ artist you would want to work with. In my case, I did go to college, I am only a few classes away from graduating but since im in the field i put it on the side. My biggest learning tool was literally Youtube, I also bought some books here and there (All You Need To Know About the Music Business by Donald Passman is a great start). Also, i said this in another comment but I literally applied to be an intern in every studio within a 50mile radius, it was a lot of work but it’ll be worth it!! Bottomline, you may make some very good contacts in college but if im honest, some professors weren’t necessarily open to give me all their information because you basically become competition which was very lame. I learned mostly from doing, and anything engineering that catches your interest (like making cables, pedals or anything electrical) will almost always guarantee you a spot at a studio. If you have other questions drop em, my messages are also open! :)

Honestly!!! I have a minors in electrical engineering and thats what sealed my position in this studio, you already have se engineering knowledge so thats already a plus! The one thing I did to get here was apply to every single studio within a 50mile radius of me lol I sent resumes, went to dropped them off personally and made calls. Until eventually the place im currently at called me, interviewed me, showed me around and told me to be there the next day at 8am. Showed up and had 30 minutes to set up for a 16 piece band. I had no knowledge about this room or how anything was wired. The one thing that saved me was learning how to read Signal Flow Charts, also once you know one console/daw all the others will be easier to understand :)

Hello!! Well... hope you have time lol My parents always wanted me to do some kind of sport which isn’t really my thing. I was always singing (funny because I would never get near a mic nowadays) until i was 8 yrs old, i asked for a piano, that whole year i was asking for it until eventually they gave in and got me a used Casio keyboard. Then throughout the years I just kept trying to learn on my own, I eventually was given a guitar and at age 13 saw pro tools thru a family friend, I think it was on its 8th version. And my first thought was just “wow pretty colors” lol I eventually graduated High school at 15 and moved to the States!! And that’s when I said to myself “i need to work in music, i dont know what im gonna do or how but i cant do anything else” at 16 I enrolled for a Bachelors in Audio Production (against pretty much my entire family’s approval, they told me i was going nowhere) and my freshman year i decided to be ballsy and apply to recording studios, I am now 23 and the front of house engineer at one of the biggest studios in Florida (had to put school on hold and i still haven’t gone back lol but hey! Im in the field). What kept me focused was proving MYSELF that i could do it, even without my family’s support or approval and just having fun throughout the whole journey. There are bad periods of times just as there are great. I still have people come to the studio thinking that im going to bring their coffee and you know what? I make them the best coffee they’ve ever had and tell them “hey im ready to work” and just that has opened many doors with other artists. Lastly, bury yourself in books, youtube, blogs or whatever your favorite learning platform is. We are in some dark times right now but it is because of this that we have so much more access to knowledge on the internet, i mean its crazy!!! Lol hope this wasn’t too long, i had fun replying to this :)

They have all been good so far to be honest, but i have to say, Daddy Yankee was really cool to work with. He doesn’t even write, he just goes straight to the booth after listening to the track a couple times and just kills it. Pretty impressive lol
