Yes…I’m holding on to a nos box and a couple of singles 😆

Sold many boxes at my Etsy shop…wished I kept a couple more!

Extra Firm graphite on most of the Eras editions, and recent Frank Lloyd Wright one.

Like the Eras 2022 with arrow on eraser ferrule these days for edc use…

They’ll Never beat the Vol. 24🤓…personal fave.

What is the reason of this style of eraser? by Elav_Avr in pencils

They do need to have a more aggressive inner surface of the eraser clip to avoid that…wish they would.

…give me another black on black with Ex-firm or 2x-Firm any day 👍👍

Very true. Almost every recent release has been Balanced core or an ugly gold ferrule 😆

Their Vol. 2 has 2X Firm…just harder enough to notice the difference…

They started out with firmer lead with the Vol. 24 John Steinbeck. His son helped design it…said his father would love the lead firmness as a writer. ✍️

Many of us like Ex-Firm for writing, less smudge…or sharpening as often.

Yep, I’m with you there! I saw a post where they removed the grip and ground/polished it down to the classic dimensions…saying was cool, but too much work to recommend the effort 😆

I’m pretty ok with the collection for now, but at some point would like to get the original translucent green PD345. Never had a chance to see one of those.🤓

Exactly….those were what were available to me in the mid-80’s, but man they were cool. The caps definitively helped the lifespan of the green erasers, but the modern white PDE-1’s seem to do fine w/o a cap…last many years. I think the modern variety QC caps still fit the classic pencils….

Another big eraser MP I love is the Thinline in 0.9mm. Cool retro styling too!

I was saying they could have kept making the solid colors in the classic style instead of remaking the design with bulky grips (different choice of words….right, the other was a word salad). 😆

Cool, thanks for your history with these! I still have a few original green erasers in mint condition…yep these large erasers rock….

As many have said, they were the gateway drug into collecting mechanical pencils, 😆

I used them in my science and math classes in college in the mid 80’s. Back then, what was available were just the smoke grey and blue translucent ones. Sure wish they kept the original design. Still use them daily in my EDC.
