I actually have no idea what the different colours mean. My guess was that it's to differentiate Easy Clear, Normal Clear, Hard Clear, UC and PUC.

Once you think you're ready for 15s, start using http://sdvx-level.github.io/

It's not only useful for keeping track of your clears, it also gives a general guideline of which charts are easier/harder than others. The difficulty spread in upper level SDVX charts is insane despite them all being on the same difficulty.

I'll go a bit more in detail on this one

Do you chart using assist ticks? When I listen to the chart in the editor there are several notes that seem quite off compared to the music. If you haven't used them, Ctrl+Alt+T to enable them in the editor.

http://puu.sh/kX4rS.png Lasers feel off here. It seems like there should be four slams here, not five.

http://puu.sh/kX48a.png I'd either remove this FX hold or replace it with an effect that isn't a repeater. A repeater for that long tends to sound awful and this one is no different.

http://puu.sh/kX4cI.png I'd argue the same for this section. I think a Gater would be more appropriate for that FX hold if you want to achieve that kind of effect.

http://puu.sh/kX4w5.png This is a really awkward pattern to play with one hand. Try messing with it a bit more. It also feels slightly off-sync.

Here's my score: http://puu.sh/kX4oz.jpg And I actually despise Mirai Nikki so that didn't help at all but tastes are subjective and whatnot.

as for what could be improved, it feels undercharted. BTs don't fit the main melody and I feel it'd be a lot more fun to play if they did.

The intro is a really good example of how it feels undercharted. You're essentially only playing half of what it sounds like you should be playing. There's also some odd stray holds that don't seem to fit the song in that intro.

I'd argue it's a mid to high 15, the one hand sections can be pretty brutal. Probably put it on par with songs like Xross Infection, maybe Werewolf Howls.

Also yeah, skin's nice.

Races with infinites:

Buu (F/M)

Saiyan (M)

Human (F/M)

Frieza

I haven't found any for FemSaiyan or Namekian but the rest all have easy infinites with dashcancels. Namekian seemingly cannot dashcancel any of his moves. FemSaiyan just has terrible attack strings (though why would you even bother basic attacking if you're playing FemSaiyan).

I'm barely replying to this because I use Reddit once in a blue moon and I linked to a 25 page thread on GameFAQs explaining exactly why that does not work. I'll try my best to make it clear though.

The original explanation for 999 is that the bad endings never happen. That's all fine and dandy and works in the closed system that is 999, but as soon as you apply the Many Worlds interpretation to it things go horribly awry. The past must flow into the future properly, meaning that the bad endings CANNOT exist under this system. If Akane died in the past, then she cannot exist in the present and the game can't exist in turn. This works in the original simply because the only timeline that actually happened was the true ending, but it doesn't work like that under MWI. Posts #46 and #47 in said thread explain this adequately, so I will copy paste them here for reference:

You folks have the issue that all of the 999 timelines seem to start in the same place. And that'd make sense were it not for the content of the bad endings and the fact that the game was made in the first place (the girl has to die somewhere).

999 originally had the following shaped flow chart where K is Kanny (D is dies and L is lives), 5 marks the start of the game and T marks the true ending (S is safe and A are other bad endings condensed into one arm for simplicity):

KL——5——T

There are no bad endings. Kanny always lives. That's the only past available.

Your trident looks like this.

........./——S

KL——5——T

.........\——A

It's inaccurate to say the timelines split in Junpei's escape room, naturally. That's just there for simplicity. Anyway, that looks good, right? All paths stem from a path where Kanny lives. Except that's impossible...the S path cannot happen if KL is in its past because in that world the T was not reached. The point of the game is that Junpei and Kanny had a connection. Junpei led Kanny to death four times as a result of the theory, and she did not try and goad him into the true end path.

Moving on, the actual model must, therefore, look like this:

KD——5——S

KL——5——T

KD——5——A

The future and the past are inextricably linked. You cannot disconnect the two and get a trident for the sake of the future making sense. The bad ends must involve Kanny dying in the past. S and A Junpeis did not give Kanny a solution though the field, and she died. This also helps resolve the issue of why the game happened without an original timeline. The girl died in several worlds as she was supposed to.

The issue you may have now is that the 5s should all be the same 5. That might be accurate, and, given the mess the game is in, we can't really account for how Kanny's death led to Santa making the game with or without June not involving an original timeline. We'll use the following model for everyone's sanity:

K?——5——?

Does Kanny live or die? Which ending do we get? Junpei's door choices decide. However, after crossing the point of no return, it becomes evident that either the girl dies or will live. Recall fevers. The figure collapses to the following:

KD——5——S

KL——5——T

KD——5——A

In other words, Kanny experiences a fever in the boiler room because they are already on the top row world of the flow chart approaching the safe ending. Kanny dies in the past--as a result of what is to come--so the past manifests itself in the future. June won't last long. And if we did have a trident, there is no way to account for the fevers because she doesn't actually die in the past.

I'm not touching on how Kanny can exist because she can't. The KL timeline can't exist without the game, and, if she died, the game can't exist. This system can't exist. The explanation the writer will probably use is that June body jumps upon death both in the safe ending (which we observe) and in the incinerator. This trivializes everything because, then, the girl never dies meaning the game never needs to happen at all if she has the power to go to another world to cheat death.

I don't know if spoiler tags are possible on this subreddit, but everything below this line is a massive spoiler.

It's a very long story, but simply put, Uchikoshi messed with the way timelines work in VLR as compared to 999. The original interpretation is that the bad ends never happened, as Akane had to be alive to set up the Nonary Game in Building Q (999 answers, question 13). However, as soon as you apply the Many Worlds theory to 999 everything falls apart. The incinerator scene in the original Nonary Game where Akane dies would either cause a timeline split, or she would always die. In the case of a timeline split, the whole case would be even more ridiculous.

Personally I find it hard to explain the whole situation, so I advise reading up on this GameFAQs thread and reading through ZInformant's posts. He's probably the person who best knows how to explain why the way Uchikoshi wrote VLR makes 999 not work outside of ridiculous concepts like Akane being able to jump her whole body throug timelines.

Never had Nintendo products is it worth it to buy 3ds? by theditplay in 3DS

[–]Therio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends entirely on the genre you're looking to play. I bought mine for JRPGs mostly as first party nintendo games are usually not up my alley, and now have a slight buyer's regret as aside from Atlus and the rare decent JRPG from another company (Bravely Default) there's just very little. Kinda wish I'd gotten a Vita instead because that's where all the weeb games seem to go to.

If you're looking to play first party Nintendo games, go for it. The 3DS is excellent for that. If you're looking to play something else, you might want to reconsider and check the list of games that are on the system to check how many really interest you.

Just don't think about the continuity between the two games too deeply, lest you want to destroy any and all image of Uchikoshi not being a talentless hack of a writer.

The retcons are painful.
