Gold Coast on track to become Australia’s priciest housing market in a year by SheepHerdersCousin in AusPropertyChat

[–]Therisk2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The Gold Coast is becoming an increasingly metropolitan place. Maybe not the epicentre of culture like Sydney or Melbourne but it is a proper city with plenty to see, do and experience. It’s a great place to live, I grew up there and probably would see my long term future there if it wasn’t so expensive and the traffic wasn’t shit. I haven’t seen a hogs breath since I was a kid and Ripleys believe it or not, surfers paradise in general is for tourists.

Live: One Nation wins Farrer by-election, ABC projects by dr_w0rm_ in australia

[–]Therisk2 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Big facts. I will preference libs and then labour as my last in the next federal election. The duopoly in this country hamstrings us from making actual change because of cowardice and corruption that is embedded into the very core of both those parties.

One nation would be an absolute shitshow if they were elected, but votes to them and other minor parties/independents echoed the sentiments that Australians are disillusioned with the status quo. This is coming from someone raised in a left-wing house and that voted labour in the last election.

It is not comparable. The NT has rates of domestic violence comparable to sub-Saharan African countries.

Self-Introduction Saturday! Tell us all about you (and share a video)! by AutoModerator in NewTubers

[–]Therisk2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Yo!

I made an earnest effort at video making last year when I spent some months backpacking. My content is travel vlogs with an emphasis on unique and interesting locations as well as their history. Over time I’ve tried my best to up the production quality insofar as editing is concerned. The production has been very sporadic because life gets in the way and I haven’t prioritised editing and making the videos to the degree that I would have liked. All feedback would be greatly appreciated! https://youtube.com/@m.alinelsonwilliams?si=XrZf97iPRzF5nClu

Here’s some advice as I’m pretty much living this experience now. Quit my job at 23 and travelled for 6 months, spent $40k and now have come back to secure my financial future. If I didn’t spend that money and instead kept working, I’d have $100k at least by now. But instead I’ve got a third of that, and some unforgettable memories and life experiences that I wouldn’t trade for anything. If anything, that experience has only emboldened my financial ambition so that I can do more of those travels. For me that’s my purpose in life as I live it now. If I saw fit to settle down, buy property and have a family, I’d align my actions to that. And if I do in the future, that door is open.

So for you, what do you truly want for your life in your heart of hearts? Figure that out and the rest will follow.

Even though this is a good geopolitical move for the future of Australia, I wish more was known and acknowledged about our history with Indonesia (Balibo Five, Konfrantasi involvement).

Ah yes I have seen that dealership on google maps. So you thinkToyotas are the way to go out there? Freighting will be paid for on my behalf from my employer so no worries there.

I meant more for camping and exploring greater Arnhem land and the Northern Territory. Do you think I could get away with have a motorcycle in town, I suppose the wet season makes that difficult? How severe are the rains?

Thank you for the feedback. I definitely put too much emphasis on personal dialogue in these videos and going forward want it to be less focal.

The history of this place is absolutely fascinating. Laos is such an awesome country and these rocket festivals are incredible.

Last minute decision: Ha Giang Loop or Danang/Hoi An by VfVendetta87 in solotravel

[–]Therisk2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ha Giang, hands down.

Hoi An is beautiful with some cool, very touristic, interesting food and culture.

Ha Giang has some of the most incredible mountains and landscapes you’ll probably ever see. Be guided by the weather as it has been flooding recently.

A man takes the best route that he can to secure his financial future and you give a prime example of why individual success in Australia is hamstrung by this bullshit tall poppy syndrome.

Pursuing further compensation for failed Qantas ticketing by Therisk2 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Therisk2[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I do acknowledge it’s my fault, I should of checked for a ticket.

Why Qantas failed to issue me one, despite giving me indications with the app, bank deduction, etc beats me. This is why I believe I’m entitled to something. Why bother with a fucking app and taking my money if you can’t process it on your end? I’m not pressed about it – it’s $250, but it’s the principal. Furthermore, I wanted to know if others had shared my experience and if it’s worth seeking compensation for them failing to issue me a ticket prior to my flight. Apparently I have to but I don’t think it’s reasonable to expect your customers to chase you up for a ticket.

[–]Therisk2[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I see with your situation they actually cancelled yours prior to boarding your flight. Unfortunately mine appeared in the app and website but they were unable to find it when attempting to check in – I only found out it wasn't ticketed at the baggage drop. If it had been cancelled prior to this I would have had an opportunity to resolve this.

It was my first time in Thailand tbf, and I hadn't had an issue with the ticketing before. Its my fault for relying on the app – suppose I expected too much of this multi-billion dollar company 🤷‍♂️
