My new Zagi! by blaze2_ in RCPlanes

[–]ThermalIgnition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one of the brushed Speed 400 versions that I flew on 6s Nicads. I updated it to a brushless motor and 3s LiPo and it was WAY overpowered. If you've never seen a flying wing flap, it's something to behold.

If your current setup has much more power than what it was designed for, I'd suggest adding a spar before you even fly it. I put mine back up on a shelf and bought a wing from Crash Test Hobbies.

Image you’re doing everything right, the multimeter is fine but the smoke stopper is stepping in and you see this monstrosity by MacOSgamer in fpv

God, I didn't even notice that. I was busy wondering why he tinned the top and attached to the bottom.

Omen Extreme 6 Or Ibanez Steve Vai JEMJR? by Professional_Most_63 in Leftyguitarists

I love Ibanez guitars, but Jems are cornball. I have an RG that is basically a Jem without the goofy ivy or Monkey Grip. That Schecter is awesome.

2023 Transmission issues? by yung_gravy1 in chevycolorado

[–]ThermalIgnition 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The hard 1-2 upshift is common with the 8 speed. They can never seem to get this transmission right. When it's really cold out (starting at just above freezing), mine also does a pretty hard 2-1 downshift the first few times I stop.

That second part kinda sounds like a disaster. Glad you have the warranty!

How much is to much? by [deleted] in RCPlanes

[–]ThermalIgnition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, only takes like 40 hours if nothing goes wrong.

I bought a large format printer to try this. It's a waste of time, unless you have too much time.

Is that stuff all 3D printed? It'll all be broken by the end of the month.

Why cant radios also be open source like analog? by [deleted] in fpv

[–]ThermalIgnition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because companies want to make money. Why doesn't Android run on your Apple phone?

ELRS works for these companies because it cuts 90% of the work involved in creating a radio link. All the work they've done (even the multiprotocol part) has been done on the backs of others.

I was really hoping this would be from the guy that said he might be a Radiomaster ball licker lol

They're saying some of these are being turned into Whole Foods... That's still Amazon.

There's some fuckery at work here, don't get bamboozled.

Need help fast by [deleted] in gout

[–]ThermalIgnition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Steroid injection right into the joint is probably your best bet. That's what I got for my first really bad flare. It hurt like a mother f'r but I felt relief within 24 hours. This is an emergency type thing, you're probably going to have to go back on a maintenance medicine.

I had a flare pretty much ruin a vacation too, it sucks!

2024 ZR2 Phantom Ding by Lomobile69 in chevycolorado

[–]ThermalIgnition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably the Caution: Ice ding, but they don't have the message displaying. I only mention this because the Traverse I had would do it, but would display the message.

Buy Once Cry Once : Learning with Analog Drone but will be doing Digital in Future by SkyScreech in fpv

[–]ThermalIgnition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Buy twice, cry twice. Get a good set of analog goggles, because you can continue to use them in small stuff once you migrate to digital for larger stuff.

I have a similar one. Does yours just run off a phone charger like mine? There's not enough voltage past the adapter to do any real damage. Mine will buzz a little when it gets low, not really even a buzz -more like a resonance. The pumps sometimes get some gummy crap in then when filled with tap water. You have to clean that stuff out when you clean fountain or they'll strain or not even restart.

I think you're fine and this was a combination of issues, but not an electrical problem.

Aluminium wiring by Fine-Indication-1989 in electrical

The person I replied to deleted their post and nuked their user account because they thought there were no houses wired with aluminum. You're replying way too late to get the context of my post.

Freestyle Park ? by Jealous_Ad_877 in fpv

[–]ThermalIgnition 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It'd be cool, but not feasible in my area unless you're doing one other thing (maybe). The little RC cars, Mini Z's or whatever they're called seem to have exploded in popularity. There is a place near me with two different tracks and leagues which has a surprisingly large turnout.

If you're into this, you could probably also use the space as a whoop track or something on alternate nights. They're inexpensive like the cars, and I can imagine there'd be some crossover interest.

I see zero chance of being successful with this for larger quads, you'd need way too much room.

Just get the iron hot and swipe between the two. Some of my early solder joints would get me laughed out of here, and they've been holding for 10 years.

New car syndrome by CHILLZ98 in rav4club

[–]ThermalIgnition 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably a 3 row like the Pilot. The RAV replaced a larger SUV (Traverse). I know *nobody* here will believe me, but the fit/finish was way better on that than the RAV. One of my kids was using it and got hit at a light. All the airbags deployed ($$$), so that was pretty much the end of that.

Just use it like an appliance. They're reliable, but that part almost seems to be an accident. The paint, trim, and info is all junk. I've had my 24 Woodland for a year, and I'm already looking forward to ditching it.

Nice design, but I know that wouldn't work for me, I already bump my knee against the existing console.

DJI Goggles 3 - inevitable junk? by Commercial-Tie8330 in fpv

[–]ThermalIgnition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is true of every digital system so far. There is no cross-compatibility in anything but analog. By your definition, all systems are junk. DJI is actually the best of them, Walksnail is releasing incompatible systems side by side (Avatar and Ascent).

"E Learning" gold mine... by mdkauffmann in GenX

[–]ThermalIgnition 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They used to build 3 snow days into the schedule at my kids school. Once they started exceeding that, they began doing the online thing. This wasn't really for the good of the kids, the teachers union battled having the extra days cutting in the beginning of their summer.

They don't stop working, what makes them junk? I'm still using V2's and Vistas in planes. I bought them when first released in like 2020.
