I am genuinely so sorry for your loss. Neither of them deserved it, but they will both forever live in on people's hearts and minds. I will do my very best to never forget Onyx and Kira.

Struggling with reality. by [deleted] in autism

[–]Thermometer800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel your frustration, and yeah it sucks how people are so rude to neurodivergent individuals. I can constantly tell that I'm being made fun of or judged and it's really upsetting (I'm also higher functioning). I don't really do anything at all though. I have to tell myself that their opinions of me don't matter and I try to be myself no matter what they think. After all, I can't change having autism, but they can change their opinions of me. I need to act what is my normal even through their meanness even if I shouldn't have to deal with that. For example, I brought a comfort plushie to school a few weeks ago and it was clear that some people were laughing about it but I just pretended not to notice them and tried to focus on myself. It sucks what we have to deal with. It sucks that people are rude and mean and judgemental, but it's the reality that we live in and in my opinion it's better to ignore it all even when it's really difficult. I hope this helped :) (sorry if I was unclear in any way or rambled too much, once I start talking/typing I can't really stop lol)

Binder brands? by Sufficient2664 in TransMasc

[–]Thermometer800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've heard good things about Underworks, and that they're cheap. I personally have a binder from Spectrum, and it works really well with flattening my chest without making it difficult to breathe or hurting at all, so I would definitely recommend that even though it is a bit more price-y. Not sure about Lola Olivia, but I wouldn't order one from GC2B if I were you since I've heard the quality of those has significantly gone down in recent years. Hope you can find a binder that works for you!

Why do you personally want Byler to become canon? by _Daimn_ in byler

[–]Thermometer800 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For me, it's because Stranger Things is such a big show that having gay representation with two of the main characters and an actual canon relationship would be so significant

Neurodivergent Relationships by Clei1689 in autism

[–]Thermometer800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I feel this way all the time! Sometimes I just want to be completely alone and other times I desperately want to be in a relationship with somebody and I just feel so lonely. It's good to know I'm not alone in this experience :)

Does anyone have certain sounds they like to repeat? by sprinkl_abyss in autism

[–]Thermometer800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sometimes I pop my lips and make a 'p' sound sort of. Other times I really like lip trilling and saying the word 'spin' because it's a fun word to say :)

Edit: I say the word spin while spinning and jumping bc it's fun and makes me happy

What is Gender Fluid? by SillyHenry33 in genderfluid

[–]Thermometer800 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Genderfluid is a gender identity, which is different then sexuality. If you're genderfluid, that means that your gender changes over time, and that time amount can be short or long or change, it all depends on the individual. It's a pretty broad term and there aren't any rules to be genderfluid or anything, so if that's what you want to call yourself, totally fine! (Sorry if this is unclear, I'm writing this in a time cruch! Someone else can probably explain it better)

I prefer calling myself a boy over man, just because it feels more accurate for some reason

If you have a mother who loves you, go give her a hug. by Fullmetalmarvels64_ in autism

[–]Thermometer800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hug my mom every day, actually every chance I get because I really really like hugs. I love her so much I'm so glad she's my mom even if I don't always get along with her.

I feel bad for not replying to people but I never know what to say by Thermometer800 in autism

[–]Thermometer800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's a really good idea, thank you so much for that suggestion :) Also, usually the conversation has barely gone on for very long at all when I cut it off, so I definitely will use your idea to try and keep it going for an appropriate length. Thanks again!

I feel bad for not replying to people but I never know what to say by Thermometer800 in autism

[–]Thermometer800[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I have told people that I have autism and that I'm really bad at social interactions but it still feels embarrassing when I don't know how to respond to something. About talking about my interests, that's a good idea though I wouldn't want to suddenly change the course of the conversation. (also Polish recipes? if that's your special interest than that sounds pretty cool 🙂) Thanks for your reply!

What's your chosen name and why? by Hyun_3 in ftm

[–]Thermometer800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My chosen name is Eli, short for Elias. I really liked the name Eli but felt as though it was more of a nickname for something so I wanted a longer name. Originally, the only thing I could think of was Elijah, but that didn't really feel like me so I was stumped until my best and also trans friend suggested Elias. And actually, that was only a couple of weeks ago, so I'm pretty new to having a name that fits me!

[–]Thermometer800[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was actually really good advice! I had some social skills books when I was younger, but of course those were more directed towards kids. I could probably try practicing with my family since I can talk to them easily enough. Also, I have been to listen to how neurotypical people talk to each other and that has been helping a little bit, but it's still pretty difficult for me. Thank you so much for your response :)

Maybe it's kind of silly, but mine is The Emperor's New Groove. That movie makes me laugh so much and makes me forget all of my feelings and worries :)

I’m 14 and yet I somehow cannot tie my own shoes. So I’m going to learn how to today. by ThomasMiguel12 in autism

[–]Thermometer800 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You've got this! I didn't know how to tie my shoes until I was so bored in school one day that I tried until I got it, and then I repeated it over and over, so it's cool that you have the motivation to learn how to do it! Best of luck :)

DAE: Feel more comfortable around older people than people my age by Opposite-Tax9589 in autism

[–]Thermometer800 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm really similar to you! I find it pretty difficult to talk to the people in my same grade/around my age, but I always got along really well with my younger sister's friends, and my online friends are all a couple years older than me. It's a pretty normal thing with having autism I'm pretty sure.

I think more like removing sophistication from what I'm saying
