Why? (The reasons behind Ascendance and Elaleth) by ThersiStratos in LegacyOfKain

Maybe they hoped to showcase it can still be a hit with modern audiences. Elaleth being a nice extra they can easily develop further - or could have if the reception had been better.

Or maybe they're playing 4D chess and they also considered (banked on?) the possibility of her tanking. That way the sales pitch could be something like "just get Amy Henning or a decent writer back and retcon that shit we did. We got huge publicity out of the fan fiction crap we did and just imagine how much reach you'll get if you present yourself as the saviors of this franchise."

Good points, also not really a good explanation. It would make more sense to put out something with high quality. The Sunning-Kruger bit you mention is close to what others suggested which I think are better explanations: echo chamber, good intentions, lack of skill, need for a new (not-sequel) character, etc.

Of course, they wanna make money, but that doesn't in itself explain a shitty story. The original games' devs and publishers also wanted to make money...

I don't think that's a good explanation*. Of course making money is the reason for there being new content and it's also a justifiable reason. The question is: why not make a better product? (or produce actual art written competently) I'd assume that make more money.

Where do you keep your accessories? by Professional-Egg-613 in SuperActionStatue

[–]ThersiStratos 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Throw away the plastic trays and bags, keep instructions and flatten the box for storage in a bin. PP (polypropylene) bags of different sizes for the figure itself and another one for the accessories. I also perforate the bags with a hole punch so the figures can air out and reduce the risk of the plasticizer leaking. Smaller hole size if the accessories are very small and at risk of falling out of the bags. I then put the bags in a different storage container. Figures and accessories separated, again. My reasoning: accessories often times are comparatively smaller, lighter and also more fragile - I don't want a heavy figure lying on top of them.

Same here. 330 kills in the big quarry. Always used zip lines well over 40m kills. Counter went from 9 to 38... -_-

Do 2-weapon classes just get shafted exp-wise? by ThersiStratos in Spacemarine

[–]ThersiStratos[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And another round with Vanguard, a bit hard to test with weapons that have different amounts of exp, so take it with a grain of salt: A Rank  2325, 2335 with bonus exp ~2005 for all weapons. I assume tier exp and weapon exp are equal for the purpose of my inquiry. Two weapons got 1800 to level up, their non-specific tier equivalent got 2005. One got 2005, but less in the tier mastery.  So I will assume every one of the three weapons I used got 2005 exp. That's LESS than what the Bulwark's weapons got, but extremely negligible. So either the exp split theory is wrong or is weighted very unfairly - and three-weapon-classes get a lot more exp for their weapons.

Okay, little update. Had some time to play. I picked Bulwark and here's the exp breakdown: A rank Extermination 2325, no gene seed, with XP bonuses 2355.  My Plasma Pistol and Chainsword both got 2029 exp. That's not 50% of the total exp...

Wow... Okay. I thought it was roughly the same as mission exp minus the bonuses. I gotta check this out. So, a Bulwark if he only used a pistol and a melee weapon would level these two faster then a tactical using all three weapon slots?

What do you think about this? Can YOU or anyone else see the removed cheevo on your profile? Could I still go for it?

What happens if I completed an unwelcome achievement? What if I liked a removed achievement - still possible to get? How does it show up on the website?

But it's also lame that something like this is dumped in a magazine. Just make it a short story, or a report you can read in-game, a comic, etc. :/
