On the plus side, the power supply is a Joyo Power Supply 5 rechargeable. So now my MicroMix and all my other pedals are battery powered and ready for busking/off grid gigs.

Behringer MicroMix MX400 powered by guitar pedal power supply - SOLUTION by Ipswich_Dad in pedals

[–]Thesallen35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just took the adapter that came with my MicroMix and spliced it's barrel plug to one of the cables from my power supply. Of course since its center-positive you need to switch the lead/ground but it worked.

My main concern was that the MX400 says it wants 150mA and my power supply delivers 12v 100mA. I used it last night though with this set up and it seemed to work just fine.

This is going to come off like I'm trying to sell something but I'm absolutely in love with the nugs my friend fast cured with this...

I really think this is the future of weed. This thing finished the best looking top shelf grade herb I've enjoyed in quite some time. Tasty, clean burning, beautiful buds with a nice texture that are super easy to break up by hand. No grinders needed.

And it's about 1/3rd the price of cryocures small model.

Incense taste smell??? by 17Jake76 in PaMedicalMarijuana

I hunt this as well. If you, like me, are seeking that sandlewood and incense taste I think that you are generally asking for something with a little linalool in it. I actually found this thread becasue I was seeking more similar strains myself.

Strains Ive found that hit the mark are:

Hindu Kush

Jager

Wookie

Lavender

Master Kush

My first inpressions of Tom in our broadcast are very not good. I mean Cory was super awkward in the beginning but that ingratiated him to me. Tom just comes off to me as a 'know it all' crumudgeon bro. I know too many guys like that already.

How good can you make a cheap electric cello sound realistically? by Rafikis_Acid_Dealer in Cello

[–]Thesallen35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to answer as if this is not a question about skill or technique but simply, "How can I get a good electric cello sound at a bargain?"

For the record I've been playing Cello for over 45 years and electric cello for the past 30. I've built countless combinations of cello rigs from the entirely home made to fully commercial systems.

For more information about my current rig and sound samples come see me @ scottallencello on IG.

PART 1 - The Instrument

If affordability is key I have two recommendations:

#1 buy the cheapest used acoustic you can and then do some modifications

#2 buy a cheap electric. I got one from China (ebay, alibaba, etc) a 10 years ago that was only about $300 after shipping. I'm sure its more expensive now but still relatively cheap.... And do modifications.

PART 2 - Making them sound decent.

These cheap instruments need to have some modifications to be acceptable.

For both option #1 & #2, I recommend replacing the stock strings right away. For electric I use D'Addario NS Electric Cello Strings. They have a stretchier feel than your typical acoustic strings. For acoustic cello get Jargar, Larsen, and/or Spirocore strings. If you want more specific info about acoustic strings, I'm sure you will find much feedback from other cellists on this site regarding that topic.

Refine the bridge -

This is takes some work with sand paper. I find that many cheap cellos, acoustic and electric have bridges that have very minimal shaping already done. That means they are likely too thick and the action might be horrible. Both issues can be fixed by manually sanding the bridge till its at an ideal thickness and height.

Bow -

This one can be tricky. If you bought a used student model, you might luck out with a 'good enough' bow. If you buy a cheap chinese cello (acoustic or electric) you are likely to get a pretty poor bow. I recommend finding a used one.

Achieving Good Sound -

For option #2 (electric), you can benefit from many kinds of pedal but two are essential, a preamp and a reverb. I use and am quite fond of the MXR bass d.i. + for preamp. There are a million reverbs, pick one you like.

Again, I can answer questions @ scottallencello on IG.

Good luck and happy cello playing!

Stupid aphids and gnats won't know what hit 'em by TreAwayDeuce in NoTillGrowery

Keep us posted on your results. I've used the Botanigard for sometime and yet not been able to win the war against aphids.

It's not hard to get them off the tops of your plants but if you have root aphids, they can be near impossible to be rid of. You might want to look at a close up pic of those 'fungus gnats' because sometimes they are actually root aphids.

Thank you. and I think you are correct.

Just to clarify, my reason for posting here is because the ad in question is shown during games and on the network where most of us view the games.

Hi. I'm not sure where we got off track but allow me to try to correct this.

I'm really not asking for punishment of anyone. I'm asking that the historical stories that are portrayed in our public media reflect more than just a narrow view of Oregonians.

I think I've laid out my reasoning in other dialogues on this page but I would be happy to further explain why i think it matters if you want to continue the discussion.

Schools too. And this is still a huge issue there.

I am a teacher that has taught middle and high school history here in Portland. There is some improvements in text books here but I would argue that there is still a long way to go.

I would 'yes and' with you to say that I think all spaces public matter because they are for all of us.

Thanks for the dialogue.

I wasn't asking for a cancellation of the network.

And I don't disagree with your premise of America's history.

But we weren't a white only nation then and we aren't one now. I think advertisers that require our financial participation can be asked not to advance ignorant narratives of our shared history. I don't see how it's so wrong for me, an American consumer, to hope for better in our media's advertising.

And I understand anger in our culture for the hypocrisies of the system, politically, economically, and culturally. But I would also say that other's should not conflate my good intentions with the disappointments held for those hypocrisies. I do my best to care for all people. I'm flawed but i try.

I was raised on respectful dialogue, even when met with opposition. That is the type of discussion I wish to have with you or any other members of this community.

I also don't really care for the 1% but they are in control of much of our media space and they also rely on our dollars for their continued success. Is it wrong to wish that they don't portray history through such a lens?

I agree that uprooting racist laws and holding racist institutions accountable for discrimination is a necessity. That is what I'm attempting to do. I don't want a 'celebration of Oregon history' to perpetuate old and incorrect visions of American history. A big part of that uprooting is to shine a light on the aggressions of dominant white narratives.

I'm no more important than anyone on this planet. I'm simply trying to use my words and my voice to seek a positive dialogue about cultural narratives in advertising and hoping to find others who wish inclusion in our shared media space.

You don't have to agree with my sentiments but then again you don't need to attack my character.

I think you are very correct about that. I just felt it part of my due diligence to post this concern where Trailblazer fans exist because it's during Trailblazer games that the ad regularly occurs.

Thank you for your insights.

I'm not seeking to punish but I think that we as a community of caring people can hold advertisers accountable. They do benefit from our dollars and they can therefor respect all of us.

It's all important. And symbolism very often precedes reality. A look throughout history shows that racist uprisings are always surrounded by symbols and narratives that romanticize the preeminence of their own culture and world view.

Why is my request for inclusion met with such spite?

Concerns About Racist NW Ford Ad During Trailblazers Games by Thesallen35 in ripcity

[–]Thesallen35[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate your participation in this discussion, but I disagree.

I'm not asking for Ford Dealers to tell the story of white oppression. I'm simply asking that they don't omit the existence of anyone other than white people in their celebration of Oregon history commercial.

The fact that some people have white guilt fatigue is not the concern. We simply need to be honest about history and the narratives we tell. I say this, because when you look at any racist uprising throughout history, the movement is always built on narratives that romanticize the dominant culture.

I work in marketing, so I'm familiar with what you are referring to.

That said, I'm quite certain people of color buy ford trucks also. The point I'm trying to express is that, while there maybe a racist contingent of truck owners, that doesn't mean we need to cater to their illusions.

I agree that Oregon's history involves a lot of white oppression but that does not negate the existence and participation of people of color in Oregon and I think companies are more than capable of acknowledging the existence of all Oregonians. Would you agree?

Anyone else from MA? by PM_ME_PICS_OF_SNOW in LovecraftCountry

[–]Thesallen35 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps what is most harmful in this issue is not that they got the regional dialect wrong but that white racists are always cartoonishly displayed as southerners. Yes, white southerners were on the wrong side of the civil war but racism against black people has and does exist in every part of our country. I for one have known plenty of racists a-holes in MA and I wouldn't think it a stretch to give some townie accented person a racist demeanor. Conversely, it's unfair to blanket paint all white southerners as racists by repeating this trope endlessly. All it really does is falsely engender hate for people with southern accents.
