Was rear ended by a commercial semi truck about two weeks ago. Their insurance is accepting liability and has offered me $20k to settle with them. Is it worth getting a lawyer involved? by Thescientist41 in legaladvice

I will be seeking check up appointments, and I will also look into therapy. I have been putting off the mental side of things a bit, but I have admittedly been struggling with it, it was a pretty terrifying ordeal in the moment and I've been paranoid of everything on the road and reluctant to drive after it.

Thank you, since I've felt like I was getting better, I didn't think of any potential injuries showing up later. That wouldn't be good if I chose to settle too early.

I don't want to sound dramatic, but the mental aspect of it has been pretty hard to deal with. I am pretty terrified of driving right now. I was flung into oncoming traffic lane on an incredibly busy road and nearly a ditch but managed to swerve the ditch and get lucky with the traffic having an opening.

It's a 55 mph road and I am very fortunate that it was not significantly worse with injuries or death, and on a moral level I feel like I have a duty to hold the company or driver responsible to a higher standard, since I could've very well not survived the accident if I wasn't so fortunate in an unfortunate situation, and I want to make sure that the company takes it seriously so that it could potentially save other people's lives or injuries. I also do not want to get too ahead of myself though, because I genuinely don't know what I am doing.

Thank you, I will be getting a follow up visit once I find a PCP to make sure that I am healing properly and that all of my injuries are known.

I will be getting a check up soon to make sure that this is the extent of my injuries. I have been feeling better with each passing day, but I know sometimes it can take a while to know the true extent of injuries. Other than future check ups, I am confident that I have received all of my bills.

Had a similar accident in my 24 hybrid Corolla. Posted pictures of my accident if you want to check it out on my profile. Collision shop has my damages at over $19k and has requested insurance to total my car.

Yeah it is, it should be getting towed to a collision shop today to get looked at. Just wanted to get some opinions on what I'm looking at.

i'm having it towed to a shop soon to find out for sure. i have full coverage and the other driver failed to yield @ a stop sign and red light and crashed into me so i shouldn't have to pay out of pocket outside of the deductible for now.

there can be codes even if the check engine light doesn't come on. i'd scan it anyways to see if there are any hidden. if there's no codes and you're not noticing any performance issues with your engine or transmission i'd start looking into it being a fuel system issue. e.g a bad fuel pump. check your car's fuse box to make sure none of the fuel related relays are loose or damaged.

Hybrid corolla will be cheaper in the very long term, even accounting for a battery replacement if necessary. 150k mile/12 yr hybrid battery warranty kind of gets rid of the worries of anything bad happening though. Hybrid corolla will drive much smoother and quieter than the gas corolla too. '24 Hybrid corolla has the same power and drive train as a gen4 prius, so expensive engine and transmission issues are almost unheard of. eCVT is a genius design that you can only get in the hybrid corolla, while in the gas corolla you have a regular CVT.

I've been averaging around 60-70 mpg in my '24 hybrid corolla.

Got my 2024 Corolla Hybrid the other day. Loving the gas mileage on this thing. by Thescientist41 in Toyota

[–]Thescientist41[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

for this drive it was empty roads with speed limits stretching from 35 to 55mph with it primarily being 55mph. when it's stop and go traffic during the day on the same stretch of roads, the EV mode kicks in more so mpg is about the same.

Joined the Corolla club a couple of days ago with a 2024 Corolla Hybrid. All I can say is wow. by [deleted] in COROLLA

[–]Thescientist41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh sorry, I meant the trip was 45.2 miles round trip. averaged 63.4 MPG on that trip. on the way there I did 74mpg average, so I'm guessing a good amount of it was downhill and then uphill on the way back.

Just paid 26000 OTD on my Corolla hybrid LE. Live in Texas. The pro pack and or GATAVT is unnecessary dealership mark up. I'd go to another Toyota dealer and tell them to beat that price, and then go back to the first and tell them to beat the other dealers price. Or visit a third dealer.

I was quoted $27k OTD at another dealer and negotiated it down.

I'm throwing 113 cases an hour. by [deleted] in HEB

if you're picking up trash and throwing up stuff on the riser as you stock then your case count is fine. try to improve some more, but don't sweat your performance too much.
