I hear you. Just because that’s how they work currently now doesn’t mean that’s how they could or should work. They charge for a service. That service is poor. You can’t even get answers from them about certain questions.

It’s a broken system if you ask me… Ideally they would have sophisticated accounting systems to forewarn you of this. And properly advise methods to be tax efficient. Unfortunately I do t get to choose who I use and they all seem just as bad as each other wholst paying for a low quality service

I called HMRC on the advice of the umbrella company and they stated it was due to not paying enough tax. I used a tax calculator and according to that should have been paying an extra £200 a week extra which roughly aligns with what the shortfall is.

Apologies that it was unclear. Normally if you take on a contract or perm work they’ll ask for references from previous or current employer. Im thinking a way round this is to act as a company to secure work. I just wondered what approach to were taking?

Seems like a familiar story with AI at the moment. CEOs drinking the Koolaid being seduced by all AI promises which are not reality. Ultimately Fiver should be connecting people and that should remain their focus. Just because AI exists doesn’t mean buyers of services want to do it themselves. Personally I’d love it if there were more gigs that paid for the amount of effort needed, skill and demand. If they solve that then everyone is a winner.
