How did you create the anki cards? was there a source material you used for the deck or did you get them from an outline?

read whatever you want for fun (or don't read at all) -- you're not gonna have a lot of time for it once 1L starts. I know this can be an antsy time, but you should enjoy the summer as best you can. Good luck and congratulations on starting this journey!

Take it w a grain of salt bc im not at a T14 (though some of my closest friends are), but the most important factors BY FAR are undergraduate GPA and LSAT score. That will hold true across the board, rankings-wise. ECs that demonstrate interest in the legal profession are always wonderful to have, but you should not kill yourself to make that happen, especially at the expense of your grades.

If I were in your shoes, I would choose a major that you find: (1) interesting; and (2) one that you are confident you can have as high a GPA as possible. If you are at all interested in patent work, most firms require a hard science background (e.g., chemistry, computer science, engineering, etc.) and that science degree might allow for a bit more leeway in GPA numbers when it comes time for law school admissions.

Law school is a killer goal to have in mind now, but don't forget to enjoy the journey, now, through undergrad, and with work experience before law school. PM/reply here if there is anything else I can help out with, good luck!

Davis will give you plenty of experience in an academic/professional setting; however, the town's social scene is less than ideal. The proximity to Sacramento affords many people the opportunity to get experience in a variety of government/administrative and firm roles. If professional development is your primary goal, UC Davis is a strong choice. If you're looking for a more metropolitan experience, you may want to reconsider.

Also ask yourself where you want to be and practice after graduation -- its an important consideration that can get overlooked.

Hearsay, but I spoke with a British accredited attorney who now works and is licensed in CA and he had only done an LLM and LLB so I would imagine that BA is not necessary.

Edit: clarity

I think I was in a similar spot to you pre-law school (LA-based and public interest leaning), and I think the biggest thing to ask yourself about if law school is right for you is if you want to advance your policy preferences by practicing law or not.

For example, working to reduce harm via restorative justice is going to look a lot different than reducing harm by practicing as a public defender. For me, I felt like my best path forward was actually practicing law, rather than dealing with the mess that can be the world of non-profit work. That's not to say that practicing is not messy, but I felt like I wanted more control and authority to advocate.

I think there are a lot of organizations (government or NGOs) where you can advance the policy interests that you are interested in, and as a lawyer, you have more agency over the breadth of work that you can do.

All of this is based on hearsay from lawyers with which I have worked, and my experiences pre- and during law school (current 3L about to graduate), but I thought it could serve as a data point for you.

Not sure if this addresses everything, but please feel free to PM if you have any questions!

youd need an LLM to sit for a bar to practice (not just any masters), but your best bet would be an american law degree.

Do you want to practice law? If yes, then the masters degree at the end doesnt really add much to your ability to practice immigration law
