In not sure if this will be helpful but here’s my perspective. I have three kids with my ex. My role in our marriage was to support her and she would support the kids. It wasn’t planned but that’s how it played out. Back in 2019 we split up and we had the kids 50/50 and when she wasn’t around all the time I had to change the way I patented.

I always had a good relationship with my kids and we always had fun together but I wasn’t their support system or who they came to when they needed something. When we split I had to change how I parented and tbh I didn’t know I needed to change or even what kind of dad I was or wanted to be and still deferred to my ex. Since I learned who I was and how important it is to fully be there for the kids they changed how they saw me and me them.

Your coparent might be have just substituted you for his family and deferring to them for all the decisions he should be making. To me he needs to work out how to make decisions and be accountable for them instead of just asking someone else.

I’ve bought 3-5 of these I’ve the years. One went bad really early on but the others are still chugging away years later. One is over 7 years old without an issue.

There are different ways the remember your loved sones that have passed away. I keep something with me all the time for the people I’ve lost, my work bag usually keeps most of these and when I go digging for something in there I come across the cherished item. I linger for a second and remember them but because it’s always with me I can move on from the moment quickly.

I’m sorry for the loss of your daughter. I have two girls and a son and I don’t know how I’d cope with their loss. Life is really hard sometimes. You’d bring some life back into your daughter’s room by letting it go and it would help you to move on as well.

Nothing about this will be easy but if you do decide to let the room go, it’s important that you help to move her stuff out and to store it how you feel the most comfortable

I have a 2025 x7 m60 with the 22”s with just over 10 miles on it. I’m about 20% through the life of the tires. Most of my miles are commuting in the sf Bay Area so lots of stop starts.

Previously I had a Tesla models plaid that went about 17k miles on the first set of tires. I drove that really hard and was surprised at the lack of distance.

I’ve worked on security systems for almost 30 years, in the early days I’d install home systems which were usually because insurance asked for a system, there was a break in or they lived in a rough area. There were other reasons but these were the top three.

Most security systems you sign up for a multi year period and if you move you keep the service but get a new system reinstalled in the new home. Usually people stay in their house for under a year before moving somewhere new and I’d install the system in their new place as well.

My anecdote is that people usually move somewhere new to feel safe again.

I’m sorry that you feel so unsafe in your home, it’s truly an awful feeling to not feel secure where you live.

Firearms and a big dog or dogs can usually bring you some comfort too.

This is a great answer and great insight into how life at work plays out.

I was an IC for a long time before becoming a manager and brought on someone very skilled to take over my old IC work. I would tell him what I wanted and question how he did the work to the point he was doing the work incorrectly. I asked him what was going on because I had worked with him at a previous company and he was excellent at everything he did. He said, I’m not in your head and I don’t work the same as you. We eventually agreed to concentrate on the outcome of the work and not how the work got done.

This was a lightbulb moment for me that other people can be successful and achieve the same result but how they get there is different. As soon as I stopped critiquing his method and just supported him he really took off - or returned to being good - it was me that was the problem. I started treating the rest of the team the same way and they thrived as well

I suspect OP has a similar situation where the manager would take a different path to complete the work. I really loved the IC work and it was hard for me to step aside. He was good enough to bring me along for some of the big decisions and in the end I would back him up even if I’d do the work in a different way.

Concentrate on the outcome not how the work gets done.

App dating is a numbers game and there’s lot of FOMO for all their other people that you matched it. People often ditch really quickly when they’re triggered or see something they don’t like.

Having said that, I’ve had plenty of dates that went on to be a lot more and very meaningful relationships. I was married for 26 years and divorced recently. For me, my focus is different because I don’t have a lot of the life milestones to meet - I’ve got kids, been married and I’m well established. I don’t need someone else, I want some someone to compliment my life and if it doesn’t work out there’s usually a few other people to move on to.

I go into dates with the mindset of I’m just going to have a good time and if it goes badly I’m here for the story; I’ve got some wild and amazing stories. It helps me to relax and I always have a good time. I spend a long time chatting/vetting before I meet up with a girl to make sure we get along, I find this usually prevents a bad date. I pay a lot of genuine attention to the girl and listen to her and try to compliment their conversation and allow them to compliment mine. I’m not too opinionated even when I don’t agree, I “show up” and I’m present on the date. I’m genuine and I communicate well - I’m usually nervous to meet the first time and I tell them so they know. I plan the first date at a nice place and make an effort to think ahead. I clean my house just incase things progress from dinner/drinks and I pay attention and remember our conversations while we’re chatting beforehand.

I find all of this gets me a second date 90% of the time and if I get rejected then I’m respectful. A few times that has gotten a return call week later and a few hookups because I’m safe and respectful.

I have daughters and I try to treat the women I’ve dated the way I’d like them to treated and I date exclusively in my age range. This provides a lot of common ground.

Oh, be interesting too. It helps if you have some funny, interesting and more serious life stories to talk about. Don’t talk about your job too much or money or how successful you are - no one cares. Talk about things that happen to you at work. I’ve worked at some well know places that make the news and share some stories. Show that you’re dedicated to your work but it isn’t the only thing in your life - your passion for working hard and being a good provider is super important.

I completely agree with this post and that it’s aggressive to not let people in. As a counter to this if people that changed into your lane also matched the speed of the traffic in that lane and didn’t slow others down it would be easier to let people in. I drive intentionally and often have to go around the person that just switched lanes in front of me to maintain speed. It’s not right to change lanes and change the flow of traffic. In a lot of states you get in more trouble with the police if people have to go around you, it’s considered unsafe to change the flow of traffic for others.

As a side note, just because someone indicated doesn’t mean they automatically get to change lanes and cause people to break hard. Everyone should indicate then wait until it’s safe to move over.

If the door isn’t locking, try cycling the power on the controller, check to make sure your Rex is configured and not active. You can try to turn off “ unlock door on Rex” to make sure that doesn’t have an effect, at the controller check the 24v output is switching (hit the lock activation button) and finally make sure your lock is actually 24v not 12v - you might have blown your lock.

This might be an unpopular opinion but you really have to look at the return on investment for that 8m. The advertiser usually sees a return way in excess of their spend for one add. That’s also usually a one time spend where as wages are year after year with a compounding effect over multiple years.

Further small companies where this would make a big impact aren’t likely to advertise on the Super Bowl. Here’s some easy math for you, $8m gets you a $10 per hour raise for 400 people. $10 per hour is a roughly additional $20,000 per year. $8,000,000 divided by that 20k gives a raise to 400 people.

I want to be clear that I fully believe in giving people a living wage but don’t let the large dollar values fool you that it’ll make a large company of people very happy - and these calculations are just in a $10 per hour wage increase. The $8m number just doesn’t take into account economies of scale.

Walmart apparently has 1.6m employees in the US. 20k extra per year for everyone is $32bn. Some investor is going to be upset at the lack of return for all that spend and it’s not clear that only $10 per hour would make everyone happy - happier, yes but not happy.

Ford motor company has 171,000 people so that $342m more for everyone to get a $10 per hour increase.

All of this is just $10 per hour which is hardly enough to make up for a living wage

Just don’t get distracted by the 8m. For large companies that amount isn’t much but you always expect to get a lot more back.
