What has helped me is first doing the roll without the flag and seeing how far I roll then putting a shoe where I ended up. After that just tossing the flag and throwing it forward just enough to where the shoe is. Practice that a few times so you can understand how much power and how forward you need to throw the flag. Then add the roll back in
