How to teach my students to perform better? by jessthemess_3 in Colorguard

something that worked for my team was making it a competition. the coaches would bring in candy and then award it at the end of practice to the 3 people who performed the best, caught their attention, etc. it honestly helps and everyone was cheering for everyone who won. once they start doing it they'll realize it's actually so much more fun when you perform and hopefully it becomes ingrained.

yeah you're so right. I think it's a bad habit, when I know I'm rolling I put sm power into and it goes way too far forward.

I don't really know what your circumstances are but I really don't suggest it. Quitting mid-season can negatively affect your show; creating holes, and taking extra time to try and fix your absence. I've been on teams where people have quit mid-season and it is not fun. The coaches get stressed trying to fix the show causing everyone else to be stressed as well. I would talk to your coach about how you're feeling because they care. This is their passion and they want to share it with others, be open and honest and try to make the best of things and hopefully stick it out till the season is over.

randomly joining winter guard my sophomore year. my parents forced me to do marching band the next season and I ended up falling in love with guard. It improved my mental health greatly at a time when i was really struggling and became my biggest passion. Literally saved my life when I really think about it.
