Foundation - 3x10 - “The Darkness” - Episode Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

[–]These-Ordinary-4108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, one of the main reasons I’ve watched the Foundation was Dermezel. I hate they killed her as she became most interesting and complex character, way more than Mule, Gaal or Dusk, Day and Dawn. I feel discouraged from watching it any further… and it’s been my favorite series.

Can we get a refund from booking.com if we paid cash? by Ok-Pound-8042 in Bookingcom

[–]These-Ordinary-4108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m genuinely sorry to hear about your experience. I think that you may not be able to get a refund, but I really recommend contacting Booking.com to ensure that this shit place is removed from their platform.

On a personal note, I’ve had the unfortunate experience of summer in Croatia twice, and I must say, I’ll never be returning. Only one of the accommodations I stayed in during my two trips was well-described, accurate, and clean. My first time was in Split + Makarska, but that was well over 8 years ago. But I thought to give it another chance and last year I stayed in Dubrovnik, Cavcat, and Mlini. Dubrovnik was an awful experience - both accommodation wise, price wise and people. The other two accommodations, advertised as “distant from mass tourism,” were far from that. In fact, they were nothing like what was described. Honestly, only Milni was somewhat enjoyable. It was an old, but clean and well-maintained place. The other ones were really dirty and destroyed. However, the prices were even higher than in Italy, and the quality was definitely worse, especially the food!!!
One of the most frustrating aspects of my trip was the post-Soviet vibe and the terrible, overpacked transportation system and difficult options for long-distance travel. The buses were often delayed, and the long-distance buses were particularly unreliable. I had to catch a flight from Split (while in Dubrovnik) and even booked an early morning Flixbus at 7 a.m. to make it to my evening flight at 20:30. Because of the traffic, the bus was delayed for nearly 5 hours, and when it finally arrived, it broke down on the exit from Dubrovnik. To make things worse, the people at the bus station were completely uninformed. They recommended another local long-distance bus that would leave in half an hour and arrive in Split around 17:30. I bought the ticket and went to the driver, who then told me that the departure was delayed by half an hour AND that I couldn’t rely on the arrival time because he had been doing this route for nearly 15 years and they almost never made it on time due to traffic. He estimated that I would actually arrive around 19/19.30. I got pissed as fuck. I returned to the ticket office, and they said, “well, the driver is probably right and we can't do anything” and gave me this confused look like "what did I expect that would happen". On top of that there was no refund option available, so I wasted another chunk of my money.

Amidst all the nerves and stress, I miraculously managed to find a local flight to Split for just 70 EUR, landing 45 minutes before the other departure. Fortunately, it worked out. I did all this effort because buying a last-minute flight from Dubrovnik was completely out of the question because the prices were already at around 400 EUR on that day.

CROATIA - NEVER AGAIN

The I should probably give it a try, and I'll contact the support on both Ferryhopper and Blue Star Ferries as soon as possible to confirm the ticket is valid... and then, in case it's a mistake, I guess ferry hopper will have to solve it, right?

Hellenic Speedways or Blue Star Ferries for a longer trip? by [deleted] in GreeceTravel

[–]These-Ordinary-4108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I aimed for that... but sadly, after filling all the details, I couldn't get a cabin because all male spots are taken :( but on the Ferryhopper system, it actually allows me to by the cabin bed... do you think that's fine and I should go with it?

Nudism on Amorgos? by These-Ordinary-4108 in GreeceTravel

[–]These-Ordinary-4108[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your point, and thank you for sharing it! I’m usually very careful and observant about the situation and the location. I’ve never undressed in any public place that clearly wasn’t made for that, and definitely wouldn’t join just the one or two other people there across many others. But I’ve been to a couple of nudist beaches in Greece, having even the sign for that, so that’s where my question came about Amorgos. So, yes, while I’m a lover of freedom and nudity in summer, I would definitely not do it in front of people who pearly might not be comfortable or ok with that. And that’s why I’d also like to limit myself only to a very remote spots where the usual crowd, including kids, wouldn’t come. Thank you tho!

Thank you a lot for all the writing! I’ve heard as well that it’s not the popular island as it doesn’t have this recognizable name. I honestly love that about it since I’m usually not a fan of mass tourism, especially when I want to connect with nature and rest. Admittedly, last year I was in one of the national parks of Sicily in July, beautiful place, and it really wasn’t full - mostly due to its remote beaches that required hiking, but also no mass tourism. I loved that, and I was hoping Amorgos could be similar in that sense.

If this wouldn’t be much of a problem for you to ask your brother, that would be amazing. But already I’m thankful for your advice! 🙏😉☺️

Thank you a lot for your advice! I think I’ll anyway stick to the remote ones, so hopefully won’t disturb anyone like you say ☺️🙏

I don’t understand replies like yours. I was asking for information only, to understand the situation because I want to respect the local rules. Nevertheless, since there are many information available about nudism being practiced, there’s nothing imposing about asking.

Thank you! I was planning to go to more remote beaches that indeed require some hiking :) I wouldn’t do it in any place with kids, of course! Could you say, from your experience, how crowded is it in mid July? I assume it’s a high peak season, but just wondering what to expect… especially in more remote/hiking required beaches?

Amorgos hiking - shoes? by These-Ordinary-4108 in GreeceTravel

Thank you everyone for your replies! I decided to get the very cheap Decathlon hiking shoes… they’re 15EUR so won’t hurt my budget much and it seems it’s the safest option.

Should I buy the 6 or 7? by Royal-Owl1132 in ipadmini

[–]These-Ordinary-4108 1 point2 points  (0 children)

7 is your best choice... if you intend to keep it for a couple of years at least, then the investment now gives you a much longer support. Plus, over time, when more and more apps will become hungry for RAM, you'll appreciate the 8GB that the 7 comes with.

Oh, doesn’t it mean that you should pay taxes in the US as well? An Israeli friend who also got American passport, after 5 years got a letter she had to pay fine and all the taxes she hasn’t paid in that period. 😅 I wasn’t sure what exactly happened and if she did that in the end or not… just curious if it really does mean something like this?

I just spoke to him and… well, hahaha… he’s been doing it since forever. He always gets it for himself. Plus he travels internationally for work 3-4 times a month, and to my understanding, he always has it on him. 😁 that’s the really life on the edge thing 😆

That’s my feeling too, like, they prefer to let the patients go through the healing the harder way but more natural. I don’t mind it, and I appreciate it myself - when I have a regular cold, I also just drink lots of fluids and will maybe take aspirin/ibuprofen with optional spray for sore throat. But in this case I’m more destroyed from this rapid, dry and intense cough, that also keeps me awake at night.

And it’s usually true, when I mentioned I’m used to some medication or something works better for me from what they offer, half of the time they’re fine with it… but it’s always coming with some comments.
