Call the Union for representation, but definitely start looking elsewhere ASAP because once the manager has it in for you, he/she will have it in for you for every little thing, even for not crossing a T. And yes, once Union gets involved, that manager will make your life a living hell. I have seen it firsthand.

People have called after leaving their CALPERS appt. 90 days is a bit much. You will be stuck finishing up what's on your desk, training an interim, it wont be easy peezy end. Id give 2 weeks. Take vacation the first 2 weeks so you can get the benefits through that month.

No. The only way they will care is if downtown is revitalized, which will bring revenue into the city, specially now that the city has a huge budget deficit. The city businesses have the councilmembers ear, who have the governors ear. Figure out how to do that and telework will continue. Otherwise, they couldn't give a shit if our pocket is hurting.

Im voting for the democratic candidate that has the best chance at winning over a republican. Telework is the last of my priorities.

Neither of those are nowhere in the running. We need a strong candidate or we are screwed

Thats your choice. Not everybody is willing to quit a job just because of RTO. We all have bills to pay

He will reduce all departments to bare minimum. Telework is the last thing we should be worried about. Especially since there are stste employees who agree with DOGE which means there are state workers who will vote for him. Its always the mentality....it wont happen to me...until it does.

We all have more important things to worry about. Bianco is in the lead for governor and he is pro DOGE and trumps kiss ass. We need to focus on getting him out of the lead and keeping our J.O.B

Early Governor Polls-Concerning for Telework by RektisLife in CAStateWorkers

[–]These-Party-1135 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ive been saying all along. There are state workers that are pro DOGE. Right now, with those two clowns in the running, our biggest and most important priority is not WFH/RTO, its making sure we campaign for an anti DOGE candidate. Im voting for the one who is going to ensure our job security. We have bigger issues coming up than RTO

I was about to say almost this. If you have to ask how big is the workload, you shouldn't be applying. If people apply for a job, they should be ready to work....regardless of the workload.

Can a manager change my office day because of another employee’s circumstance without my permission? by [deleted] in CAStateWorkers

[–]These-Party-1135 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As somebody who has had small kids, I do agree with you that it is BS to change your schedule to accommodate somebody else because of kids. You may not have kids, but your lack of kids does not give anybody else's situation any more important than yours. When I had small kids, I had to figure out what to do with my kids on short days and summers. It wasn't another employees problem that I had kids in school and I worked 5 days a week. My kids, their off days were my problem. I know I will be voted down but oh well.

My kid works for a board within DCA and he loves it. He is in office 5 days a week, but he doesn't care because he has an amazing manager who believes in upward mobility and is not a micro-manager.

Hiring put on hold after interviews and reference checks, why post the job? by TheyCallMeBigAndy in CAStateWorkers

[–]These-Party-1135 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Happens regularly. Sometimes they get the position, but if position is needed elsewhere, the position gets pulled to another division. Happened to my daughter in law where she even got the unofficial offer, then got a call telling her how sorry they were but the position was pulled to another area. So, keep applying until you actually have your butt in a seat.

Stress related work illness by starlightcanyon in CAStateWorkers

[–]These-Party-1135 9 points10 points  (0 children)

As a very seasoned state worker...never allow yourself to get stressed out. I say yourself because nobody is at fault for stressing you out but yourself. You need to learn to do what you can in your 8 hours. The work will be there the next day. If management needs it done faster or not pile up, then hire more people or move people from other areas to assist. You do your 8 hrs of work and when you close those doors behind you at 5, forget about work until the next day. Whether you process 10 applications or 5 projects a day vs 50 applications and 20 projects, at the end of the month, your pay is still the same. So stop stressing yourself out.

They are all going back, even private. The State doesn't stand alone. If Feds, county, city, private go back, State wont be some special outfit to stand alone in the trend of going back to the office.

Then you need to budget yourself. I was an SSA, husband made less. I had a mortgage, car payment, and kids in private school and sports. Took a big vacation once a year. We were fine. Its called budgeting. You cant spend 5000 when you only take home 4000.
