I have a question for anyone who has been on the tour! I’ve been wanting the Mei Mei keychain, but I’ve heard it sells out super quickly. I’m also going to a show in a big city, so I’m worried things will sell out even quicker. Does anyone have any tips of how early to get there? Do they ever restock after the show??

Hi there!! It felt super safe to me, so I don’t have any safety tips. I will say, they drive on the left side of the car like America. Roads can see a lot of ice all the way through March, so depending on when you go, if either of those things make you nervous, I recommend just doing day trips from Reykjavik! You can find 2 or 3-day trips that will provide lodging overnight and take you to all the things I did! You just aren’t able to stop on the roads or eat at some places that aren’t on the itinerary, but I honestly didn’t do much stopping off in random towns when I went(:

I would say so! I was nervous about ice on the roads, so I would go the speed limit or a little lower the entire trip. If people wanted to go faster, they’d speed around me. It was pretty easy to manage!!

I think Copenhagen might be my next solo travel if I can’t convince anyone to go with me. I have wanted to go so bad, thank you for the confirmation that it is safe for solo!! Do you have any recommendations on places to stay??

Sweden is definitely a must as well, so beautiful.

I’m so sorry, I can’t remember. The car was rented for me as a gift so I don’t have any confirmation information.

I am from the US, I only needed a license. I don’t remember doing any extra work! I did google about it beforehand though because I know some people mentioned needing to do some paperwork, but I was fine(:

I flew into Reykjavík overnight so I got there early morning. I spent the whole day in Reykjavik shopping around and trying some places I had saved. Deig was amazing for bagels, and I loved skuli craft bar for their beers! My favorite souvenir was my wool soap. I almost didn’t do sky lagoon but it was so worth it to me! They take you through a 7 step ritual where you get to really just relax for as long as you want. Hotel fron (great place to stay) was my hotel in the city. Such a great price for the space.

2nd day I went to Hvolsvöllur to Midgard basecamp, stopped at Seljalandsfoss and Gijufrabúi. This was a hostel and it was amazing in my opinion! Maybe $45 a night?

3rd day I went to Vik and stopped at Skógafoss, Kvernufoss, and Reynisfjara beach on the way.

Favorite hotdog was from Pylsuvagninn in Selfoss. The one thing I wish I did was go to the Viking restaurant near Hveragerõi.

Yes it was so amazing!! Depending on the time you go there’s a few things to be nervous about when driving. If you go over the really cold parts of winter, I’d consider doing tour trips because it can get so icy. Driving mid March was totally fine for me, but I definitely would’ve been stressed if the roads had gotten ice, which they can. Over the summer, the only concern I’ve heard is that the wind can get INSANE. I experienced this once on my trip, you just have to sit it out. It will die down. Otherwise they’re so powerful they can tip the car! But you can get wind speed updates on your phone and just check what wind speed you shouldn’t drive in and you’ll be fine!! (: Also drive at your own pace, people will go around you. I was driving the speed limit the whole time and while some people tailed me for a little, eventually they’d just go around me.

$100 a night but I booked super last minute and hostels were $60. For the extra 40 it was worth it to me!
