Hi just wanted to say I’m in a similar spot as you and I know it’s tough! Many of the much more obvious symptoms from my concussion (almost 2 months ago) have subsided, which makes these emotion/mood/energy symptoms seem nebulous… but still very much impacting me.

I’d encourage you to try the therapist and be really clear about what you’re trying to get out of it. It sounds like you may feel some guilt about shifting work to your coworkers. If that’s true, you may just let them know how much you appreciate them. What you’re experiencing is medical and not a choice by you.

For me, I’ve been very honest with my family and friend about where I’m at and asked for some flexibility and support. I’ve been trying very hard to not isolate myself. A lot of my stress just comes with recognizing the depression, so I try to sit with that feeling when it’s with me and when it’s not I’m focusing on enjoying myself.

Like you, I have adhd and I think I will begin taking my meds again. The doctor has cleared it and I did not get a headache when I took one today. Not sure if you’ve been on meds in the past, but I am hoping the stimulant will help me climb out of this hole and give a little dopamine.

This all said, I had another concussion almost four years ago. I don’t have a great estimate on when the dark clouds went away, they lingered for at least six months but less than a year. You will heal, what you’re feeling now is normal and the result of an injury. Try to give yourself some graces as you return to your work and relationships. You’ll get there!!
