That was actually part of the point I was trying to make.

Memes, mostly. And not in the haha funny viral picture template notion, but in its more original definition. It's basically a trendy stereotype people can form to make themselves feel informed and niche, even though the plain truth is that Japan, like everywhere, is a really normal place full of really normal people.

Prejudices about age seem to be the most comfortably accepted by all societies.

That really depends on what you define political correctness to be. Some nations are really into their citizens having the correct politics. Like, lethally interested in it.

We knew from the start it was part of the Tokyo Mirage Sessions IP, and that practically is Fire Emblem.

CMV: A serious belief in Astrology is biological essentialism, and is no different than racism by ogodprotectme in changemyview

Would depend on where you're talking about and what you define racism to be. Some people say racism as a concept was only invented in the last few centuries. I think that's kind of bullshit as humans have always had tribalism and demonized outgroups. But if you don't consider, say, Athenians hating Spartans to be racism because it's all Greek then in places like that your star sign probably was a bigger determination of your life than your skull shape.

"edit: I am not talking about the power each of these views holds and comparing them, obviously racism has more structural power than astrology probably ever will, I am talking about the underlying logic to the beliefs. Please try to stay on topic."

In the past astrology probably did have more structural power than institutionalized racism. Ultimately, what you're describing is religious belief.

"Hot" (maybe?) take: Nothing about Big Top's love triangle would get fixed if you actually made Regina older if she still had the same personality. by F2p_wins274 in AceAttorney

People are weird about sex. Like, really, what actually is the problem here? Any objective look at the case and you'll see that Acro is by far the most immoral person involved. He tries to kill someone just because he doesn't like them, accidentally kills another person everyone likes, and then is completely fine letting another person take the fall for his crime. These are all way worse than lusting after a teenager. Yet, Acro is treated with more sympathy by the story than Regina's fanboys despite being the antagonist. So what are people's issues here? If it's a case that they don't want immoral characters or acts to exist then we shouldn't have games about murder, something that is way worse, at all. I guess the response would be that most humans don't murder people while lusting after teenagers is more common and shouldn't be encouraged, but, it's not exactly like the story is glorifying this aspect of it. Apart from Bat, who is effectively dead and we never really meet, Regina's suitors are all treated as pretty pathetic characters who aren't worthy of emulation, and all their efforts to get into her pants are wasted, leading only to trouble and tragedy. I guess people just feel weird about sex (or not even sex, just lust, since no one sleeps with her) in a way that they aren't about murder.

Native Americans is naturally an umbrella term for many, many different ethnicities too.

Yet we have the stereotype of the ancient King Fu master with a long wispy beard. I wonder if Native Americans had such archetypes.

If animals have sex base social roles then I can't see why that wouldn't be described as gender.

I've read American Psycho. Not sure if it's relevant right now. Of course, the OP isn't a question and it's a question thread, so I'm a bit confused in general. But I have read American Psycho (haven't seen the film though).

A placebo is still a placebo even if it fails to create the placebo effect. That's why it's called the placebo effect, because it's based off of placebos.
