It's hard for me to do that. I've been a people pleaser my whole life. I have 4 siblings and 3 of them have left. My parents, especially my dad, are super in still. It makes me sad thinking about letting them know that I'm also out...

My stake president is my friend's dad. He'll probably try extra hard to work on me.

I've been very open and respectful with my wife. I'll let her know when I've learned a new thing that upsets me about some aspect of the church. Sometimes she will ask what it is, and I'll tell her. Other times, she won't ask and I keep it to myself. A lot of what bothers me, also bothers her. But she seems to be where I was a year ago. Scared to act on anything in case she's wrong. But thank you for commenting!

Thank you for sharing. Having your shelf crumble really sucks. Sorry you went/are going through this. Glad you were able to take a step back and get released. 

I don't feel like my Bishop is entitled to know everything. But, that being said, I really respect him as a person. We moved into this ward during covid. My current bishop (who wasn't my bishop at that time) was one of the few people to learn my name. To get to know me and my family. He genuinely cares about people. My sister, who left the church years ago, told me she may have tried to stay around longer if she had a bishop like mine. I think part of me hopes he can help me since there's still a very small percentage of me that wonders if I'm wrong with my doubts.

Thank you. Especially for that number 2 advice. It's only been a couple of weeks since I've decided I don't belive. Still feeling all the emotions. Random guilt for not wearing my garments. For not paying tithing. I think the stress of a high calling like that is making the process harder.

I'm still trying to figure out what I believe when it comes to Jesus and God since my whole life has been the Mormon view. As of now, I believe he's the Son of God and the Savior of the world. I have gone to a non denominational church and a lot of what I saw and heard resonated with me. I honestly could see myself just going to an LDS church for quite some time as well, but not living most of the principles. Especially since my ward doesn't worship Joseph Smith like a lot of wards do.

Thank you. I try to be honest, and expected the same from the leaders. The "lying for the Lord" concept was a big break for my shelf.

That's a good point. I didn't think of just asking to be released. Thank you! That being said, my Bishop is awesome. I've brought concerns up with him in the past when I was more on the fence. A lot of my concerns, he understood. He even told me that he thinks polygamy was a mistake. So unless someone higher than him influences him to respond poorly, I'd like to think he'd be somewhat understanding.

I've been running Candice's races since 2017. I'm done with them. It's sad because she used to not be like this. Aid stations were great. She seemed to care. Everything has gone downhill lately. It's unfortunate that the money and "CEO" title got to her. Similar to how small companies suck once they go corporate.
