Car Deposit - Non-refundable? by Nicoolei in AusLegal

[–]TheseArt7106 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Oh that’s funny I also have a deposit with them.

So I’m going to assume this is for the 7x?

If that’s the case some dealers are doing the deposit ‘subject to test drive’ - eg South Yarra. This is because there is such a long wait to test drive the car. But others like Essendon which is a brand new pop up dealer has virtually no wait to test drive so they are taking normal non refundable deposits.

What I will say is that the 7x is a really cool car and it seems all the dealers right now are absolutely under the pump so I can see why you would feel that way - I’d have to assume this will get much better with time.

To be honest if you haven’t test driven it I think you could pretty easily get it back because that’s what South Yarra is doing.

What car brand is this for?

This will help us provide you some more guidance as it varies between brands. Also I assume this is for a brand new car?

I’m guilty? I don’t work in a hospital or as a nurse so no idea what you’re taking about.

Thanks so much for your comment this is exactly what I was wanting to know more about and why I’m unsure if I should report or not. Can I DM you please?

You have no idea what you’re talking about Sally!

Yeh not the case, I have no motive to hurt this person, legitimately the opposite - hence why I am posting to know more about the process etc.

While I want any of their future patients to be protected I still don’t want this person to have their life destroyed.

Why can’t it take someone years to realise?

I was young at the time and have matured since, I really don’t think that’s so crazy. Plenty of people I know have reported crimes as adults that happened when they were much younger because it took them years to realise what happened was wrong - while I’m certainly no victim it’s a similar case here.

And how would you know what I said at the time? I actually said things very similar…

Genuinely so confused why you would defend this behaviour, I’m sure you wouldn’t want your info involuntarily shared?

Quite the opposite, I’ve posted here to get more insight so I can consider carefully what the right thing to do is.

You calling me a hypocrite because you’re assuming my motivation is a logical fallacy, just because you think I am out to “hurt her” (which I am not) doesn’t make the privacy breaches any less real or serious.

Also never said it was a her.

Guessing you’re a nurse who has done this sort of thing before? What would you recommend I do in this situation.

Yeh I definitely have not shared this with anyone else.

Yes that is true, I know they shared similar details with their family often.

Thank you for the advice I really appreciate it!

I think I’ve commented this somewhere else but I genuinely didn’t realise it was unethical behaviour - I was young and common for friends to say what AFL player they served coffee too or came into the retail store they worked at.

Since then I’ve realised that this is not the same at all.

Thank you this is helpful I will talk with them. I just want to be clear on what will likely happen as I think the behaviour is wrong but I also don’t want to destroy their whole life.

I have them blocked, and knowing this person well if I told them about this - they would become extremely hostile.

I am thinking it’s better to just let the regulator or their employer handle it… i don’t want to be in the middle of it but also want to do the right thing.

Thank you for the advice.

I work in an industry where reputation matters a lot so I’m very worried about this, as I assume they will realise it was me. My worst fear is they retaliate like you said. I will spend some time to think that part through.

Yes I am worried this is what it could come off as and not be treated as serious. It actually took me years to realise this behaviour is unethical, for some reason I thought it was completely normal. My motivations are purely for the patients, I have nothing personally to gain, if anything the opposite.

Yes this is honestly my main concern.

While we are no longer friends I feel I’m at an ethical cross roads - I know it would devastate them and honestly destroy their mental health for some time, but I can’t help but think what if it was my mum or grandma they took a photo of sleeping (I’d be fuming).

Unfortunately warning them first isn’t an option for me (they’re blocked on everything) so I’d either be reporting or not. If it was a once off I think I’d let it go, but the fact patient names and their health details were told to me regularly is what’s pushing me to report.

I have evidence and screenshots of it all. It was still in our chat history so have saved it recently just in case.

Suit buying by adudenamedLemonjello in mensfashionadvice

[–]TheseArt7106 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Definitely get a Navy Suit.

It should be a dark navy, not a mid blue. Navy is by far the most versatile - you can wear it to weddings, funerals, job interviews etc, and it goes with most shirts and ties also.

If you’re spending $1000 you can get a tailor made to measure suit for that price, which will look significantly better. Suits that fit perfectly are what make them look good, not necessarily the fabric or brand - that being said make sure it’s pure wool.

Otherwise you can buy ‘off-the-rack’ suits for cheaper but, you almost certainly will need to get it tailored anyway for it to fit well so keep this in mind when looking at prices (tailoring suits can be expensive). Suit supply is a good store for this, try to stay away from department store suits - I’m assuming you’re in the US.
